If you’ve got a physical coming up, a little prep goes a long way. Fasting just means no food for a short period before your visit, but you can still have water, black coffee, and take your regular medications as usual. ☕

It helps us get the most accurate lab results, so you’re getting a clear picture of your health without having to come back again. If you’re ever unsure what applies to you, just give our office a quick call and we’ll walk you through it.

Behind the scenes, there’s a whole group of people making sure your care runs smoothly, and this week we get to shine a light on a few of them.

It’s Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, and we want to recognize our amazing phlebotomists here at the practice. They’re often the first friendly face you see, the calm voice when you’re a little nervous, and the steady hands that help make the process quick and comfortable.

They play such an important role in your care, even if you only see them for a few minutes. From collecting samples to helping your providers get the answers they need, their work truly matters every single day.

If you’ve ever had a great experience with one of them, feel free to drop a thank you in the comments, we know it would mean a lot to them!

There’s something special about choosing a place and truly making it home, and that’s exactly what Dr. Briana Birdsong has done here in Macon.

Originally from Baltimore, she came to the area for her Internal Medicine residency at Atrium Health and quickly knew she wanted to stay. Five years later, she and her husband, Dr. Brian Birdsong, have put down roots, built a life, and become part of the community. Her husband is an inpatient psychiatrist with Coliseum Piedmont Hospital, where he cares for patients and supports mental health in our area, and together they are members of Idle Hour.

Outside of the office, you’ll likely find Dr. Birdsong with her two miniature goldendoodles, out on the pickleball or golf course, or planning her next trip somewhere new.

We’re so glad she chose Macon and even more glad she’s part of our team!

April is 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, which is a good reminder that small, steady habits can make a real difference over time. Things like moving your body regularly, choosing balanced meals, and keeping up with routine checkups all play a role in lowering your risk for type 2 diabetes.

It's also worth paying attention to prediabetes, since many people have it without realizing it. A simple screening can give you clarity and help you take the next step, whether that's prevention or better management.

If you have questions or would like to schedule a screening, give our office a call at (478) 405 0045.

We're here to help you stay on track and feel your best!

Stress has a way of quietly building up, especially when life gets busy. The good news is that small, simple habits can make a real difference in how you feel day to day.

Here are a few gentle ways to keep stress a little lower:

• Take short breaks throughout the day, even just a few minutes to step outside or reset
• Keep a consistent sleep routine as much as you can
• Move your body in a way that feels good, whether that’s walking, stretching, or something more active
• Stay connected with family and friends, even if it’s just a quick check-in
• Pay attention to what your body is telling you and don’t ignore signs of burnout

If stress has been feeling harder to manage lately, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. Give our office a call at (478) 405-0045 to find out how we can help.

March 25th is American Diabetes Association Alert Day, and it’s meant to be a gentle reminder to check in on your health.

Many people don’t realize they may be at risk for Type 2 diabetes, and often, there aren’t obvious symptoms early on.

You might have a higher risk if you:

• Have a family history of diabetes
• Spend a lot of time sitting or are less active
• Have high blood pressure
• Have been told your blood sugar is borderline

The encouraging part is that small changes can make a real difference over time.

Even something as simple as learning your risk level is a meaningful first step.

Have questions or concerns? Give us a call at 478-405-0045 🩺

March is 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and it’s a good reminder that taking care of your health doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. 😊

It’s usually the small, everyday choices that add up over time.

That might look like:

🥗 Adding one more vegetable to your meals
🫗 Drinking a little more water during the day
📝 Planning ahead so meals feel less rushed
😊 Paying attention to what helps you feel your best

You don’t need a perfect plan; you just need a starting point!

If you’ve been wanting to feel better, have more energy, or simply take better care of yourself, this is a great time to begin.

What is one thing you'll do to take better care of 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
