The Gaudet Chiropractic Center is excited to welcome our two new massage therapists, Drew Mote and Joanne Kliem. Both Drew and Joanne have decades of experience in massage therapy, providing our patients and massage clients with a variety of neuromuscular therapy techniques. Drew studied abroad, and Joanne spent many years working in chiropractic offices in Atlanta and New Jersey.

Did you know that pain is created in your brain? The way the brain does this is very similar to to the way the brain learns anything else. It's called neural (nerve) plasticity-or brain adaptations .Did you know that what you focus on actually drives neural plasticity? This is obviously good if you are focusing on learning something because it will help you to learn it. But if you are focusing on your pain this may actually make your pain worse or persist and harder to get rid of. It is therefore best to focus on the good things. Focus on what is working well. Focus on what makes you happy. Focus on what you are thankful for. This alone can help you heal!

Brain scientists who have studied the effects of chiropractic spinal adjustments have discovered that adjustments also change brain function. Chiropractic has a neuroplastic effect on the brain. Neuroscientist believe that chiropractic care most likely helps reduce your feeling of pain by enabling your brain to "turn down" or "switch off" the perception of pain in the brain.

Today was United Way's annual READ FOR THE RECORD. The same book, PIPER CHEN SINGS by Grammy-Award-Winning star Phillipa Soo of Hamilton fame, was read to school children nationwide — thousands of classrooms and two million readers to "celebrate early literacy."

I read to three classes of adorable, delightful children — two second grade classes and one first grade class at L.H. Williams Elementary School in Pleasant Hill on behalf of the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority.

It's easy to take sidewalks for granted — until we need one.

There are so many unsung city workers who keep Macon clean, safe & attractive, with particular challenges working in the heat, sun, cold, wind & rain.

MTA is grateful for Rico Hughes and his great Public Works team, including trainees, who reworked the corner of Fifth & Poplar this week, including the all-important wheelchair ramp.

MTA is proud to continue transforming Fifth & Poplar:
1. Abraham Abebe's SPIRIT OF MACON I mural (2021 Downtown Challenge 2.0 grant through Community Foundation of Central GA)

2. Abebe's SPIRIT of MACON II tunnel mural (2022 Linda Harriet Lane grant, through CFCGA)

3. Removal of the jungle next to the tunnel to beautify the area & improve safety (2022).

4. Linda Harriet Lane grant through CFCGA to restore the Transfer Station murals (current/2024).
