If you’re considering Memory Care in a senior living community for your loved one, start by considering if Memory Care is a good fit for your loved one at this time.
Look for signs of short-term memory loss, such as missing medication, doctor appointments, social engagements, birthdays, or other things they would normally recall. Are they misplacing items like their phone, television remote, magazines, or books? Are they having difficulty communicating their needs or wants? Are they wandering? Are they experiencing sundowning, where they are confused between day and night? These are all signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s and should be addressed early.
Here are some other questions to consider as you begin this journey:
Does my loved one have a better day when there is structure to the day? 📅
Does my loved one require more oversight, assistance, or direction while dressing, bathing, and hygiene? 🪥
Do I fear my loved one leaving their home alone or unsafely? 🏠
Does my loved one have difficulty deciding what to do on a typical day? 😕
