As temperatures warm up across California, remember to stay hydrated.

Drink water before outdoor work or activity, take regular breaks, and aim for about a cup of water every 15–20 minutes in the heat.

✔ Revisa a diario si tú, tus hijos o tus mascotas tienen garrapatas

We love spring, but it's the 🎶 season of the ticks. 🎶

If you’re spending time outdoors, a few simple precautions can help prevent tick bites and reduce your risk of illnesses like Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome.

✔ Use insect repellent with DEET or picaridin
✔ Wear light-colored clothing and tuck pants into socks
✔ Walk in the center of trails and avoid tall grass
✔ Check yourself, your kids, and pets for ticks daily
✔ Shower after spending time outdoors

If you find a tick, remove it quickly and watch for symptoms like a rash or fever. Contact your doctor if you develop unexplained illness after a tick bite.

Don’t lie to us — We know you didn’t floss. 🙃

But it’d be pretty cool if you did.

While brushing on its own is good, flossing helps you clean the surfaces of your teeth that your brush can't reach. 🦷

Bacteria love to build up in-between your teeth and feed on little bits of food that get stuck there. This can cause bad breath and even turn into plaque and gum disease.

That's why it's important to get into those gaps and floss your teeth at least once a day before you brush. Then, brush twice a day to fully clean all your teeth.

No me mientas: sé que no usaste hilo dental. 🙃

As it gets warmer, take a moment to check in on your friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

It’s important to keep an eye on each other during heat events.

It is important for pregnant women to maintain good oral health. It is safe to visit the dentist in any trimester.

With the changes in hormones during pregnancy, women are at risk of developing inflammation of the gums, leading to early stages of periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease could lead to poor pregnancy outcomes such as low birth weight, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes.
