Here's another Staff Spotlight! This time, we are putting the Spotlight on Miss Heather, the office's "Systemizer" who helps all of us to stay efficient, organized, and to be the best therapists we can be. Here is a little bit more about Miss Heather:

Rooted in a background as a special education teacher and administrator, Heather's journey into social work was a natural evolution of her lifelong passion for advocacy and human connection — bringing over twenty-five years of experience supporting children, adolescents, families, and individuals across Georgia to her work at Madison Family Counseling. Heather believes every client holds the strengths needed to grow and heal, and she is committed to creating a safe, open space where those strengths are recognized, built upon, and transformed into real, lasting change. Drawing on a rich blend of evidence-based approaches — including CBT, ACT, trauma-informed care, and motivational strategies — Heather meets each person exactly where they are, walking alongside them as a fellow lifelong learner on a shared journey toward their goals.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be and why? A baby goat, so I could watch it jump and play… they just make me laugh!

What is your favorite color? Green, it reminds me of nature.

What is your favorite meal of the day? Dinner… I get to sit down and spend time with my family at dinner more often.

What is your favorite dinosaur? The therapisaurus

What is something you are really proud of? My children and grandchildren! I love their unique perspectives and how they they light up our lives!

What was the hardest rule for you to follow as a kid? Hmmm… I’ve always been a bit of a rule follower! 😂LOL I didn’t want to get in trouble!

If you could invent one thing to make life easier, what would it be?
A mirror that let each person see how precious and beautiful they are in God’s eyes!

Staff Spotlight... Ms. Janeah! She is more than staff, she is the owner of Madison Family Counseling and our fearless leader!

Ms. Janeah describes her professional development as: "I have always been drawn to the underdog. By providing therapy to youth I feel I can help guide them to be their best selves."

Ms. Janeah's role in the office is: The Map- helping everyone in the office know which direction to go right now.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be and why? A cat, so I could lay in the sun all day

What is your favorite color? Sage green

What is your favorite meal of the day? Breakfast, which I eat all times of the day.

What is your favorite dinosaur? The Hadrosaurus Faulkii, because my great great great great uncle discovered it in 1858, which I think is pretty cool.

What is something you are really proud of? My three children and their passion for learning.

What was the hardest rule for you to follow as a kid? Not to talk in class....

If you could invent one thing to make life easier, what would it be? World Peace, of course, but until then I wait expectantly for Jesus!

We were recently asked if we had an Amazon wish list. And, yes, we do! We may not be a non-profit but our ministry offers every individual or family the option of a sliding fee scale as our mission is to ensure everyone has access to affordable Mental Health care. We do not turn anyone away from services. Thanks for considering us this holiday season!

Just wanted to let you all know about a new group for moms of young children and school aged children (0 to 18!), we're starting this Wednesday the 12th 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Parenting can be stressful, we believe at Madison Family Counseling it takes a village! We're starting The Joy Group, to remember there is Joy in the fellowship, and in the long days, and to help give skills on having joy-filled relationships.

This is lead by myself (Janeah Weaver), a play therapist, and Allison Pugmire, a Christian Counselor, but we're also just moms raising our kids! We'll first meet in the Madison Family Counseling office, 1040 Barclay Drive (by the Health Department). Children can come but childcare isn't provided (yet) so they'll be right in the meeting with us. We may move over to a larger community building once we know how many people are interested and coming consistently!
