Many of our patients struggling with addiction and mental health are homeless, have housing insecurities, or are very low income. Winter can be an extremely difficult time. Juneteenth was celebrated yesterday and is recognized today. This is a time to, of course, reflect on the progress our country has made. But also, it is a time for all of us to acknowledge that there is so much more work to be done to achieve true equity, and true freedom for our black community. May 10th is National Fentanyl Awareness Day. We cannot stress enough how important this message and awareness is. Fentanyl is odorless, tasteless, colorless. In extremely small doses - it is DEADLY. It is 50 times stronger than he**in. It is 100 times stronger than morphine. It is being added to other drugs without the users knowledge nor consent. Out of the nearly 107,000 drug overdose deaths from 11/2020-11/2021, 60% of those deaths involved synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. WISCONSIN is one of 7 states with high overdose mortality. (along with KY, MI, NC, NK, NM, and PA). Be aware, be educated, spread the word of treatment options, support, advocate for, and love each other.

More and more we are seeing the very scary reality of the mass production of fake pills that often contain lethal amounts of Fentanyl. These fake prescription pills are being sold on social media, including to minors. Can you tell the difference between the two pills in this picture? Kids definitely cannot... Be aware. Be educated. Talk to your kids. And if they have already fallen victim to fentanyl use, get help right away. We are now treating minors ages 16 and up. Please call us. 608-729-9388
