Art and creative activities is a form of communication. In our child and adolescent clinic, painting, clay molding, and sketching are ways the kids communicate with us. They tell us their stories through art. We walk through the door they open. That’s how we know what they need and why they are struggling.

We forget what it is like to laugh, to play, we forget what it is like to simply exist in moments of joy. The one thing that separates adults from kids — is not age, not time, not wisdom, not responsibilities, no, what makes an adult an adult is the inability to play. Playfulness is an attitude of pure glee, playing is curiosity in action, discovery, and pretending — play is approaching each moment as new, full of beautiful possibilities. Children, adults, men, and women — we must remember to play. 🎈☺🙌🏼

Have you ever looked at your adolescent and wondered “Who are you? Where did my child go?” I sure did. Then, I remembered that new beginnings are always difficult.

Meet our dog Quinley.🐾 He takes his role seriously as our vigilant patrol alerting us to any squirrel or chipmunk movements on the property. One of my (Julie’s) favorite activities is to run with Quinley on the wooded trails. He’s off leash and I’m reveling in his and my freedom.
