Hello, sunshine! β˜€οΈAs we move into summer, I want to talk about one of the most essential nutrients for our health: Vitamin D. This sunshine vitamin plays a crucial role in supporting our immune system, bones, mood, and overall well-being. Here are five benefits of getting Vitamin D from sunshine, along with some tips on how to do it safely:
1. Boosts mood: Sunlight exposure triggers the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and reduces stress. Getting some sunshine can help you feel happier, calmer, and more energized.
2. Enhances immunity: Vitamin D supports the production of antimicrobial peptides, which help fight off infections and inflammation. Having optimal levels of Vitamin D may reduce your risk of autoimmune diseases, cancer, and other chronic illnesses.
3. Improves bone health: Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus, two minerals that are essential for building and maintaining strong bones. Getting enough Vitamin D may lower your risk of osteoporosis and fractures.

2️⃣ Move Your Body: Regular exercise can help maintain a healthy weight, improve cardiovascular health, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Find activities you enjoy (they don’t have to happen in a gym) and aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.

3️⃣ Eat Nutrient-Dense Foods: As we age, our bodies require more nutrients to function properly. Focus on incorporating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats into your diet to support your health.

If you're experiencing difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, or general mental fogginess during perimenopause or menopause, you're not alone. "Brain fog" is a common symptom during this stage of life, and it can be frustrating and even alarming for some women.

So, what causes brain fog during perimenopause and menopause? Hormonal changes are a big contributor. Estrogen helps support healthy brain function, and as estrogen levels fluctuate and eventually decline during this stage of life, it can lead to cognitive changes and difficulties.

The good news is that there are steps you can take to combat brain fog and support your brain health during perimenopause and menopause. Here are a few tips:
