Madison area parents,

We're sad to announce that Marshall and Franz will no longer be facilitating monthly Grounded meetings. We've been at this in one form or another since spring of 2018, and it has been an incredible five year run.

But with our lives getting busier and Franz living 45 minutes away from Madison, we were having trouble finding time to do things like maintain the website, hang posters, facilitate an active social media presence, advertise, and coordinate with other groups. Combined with a drop in turnout over the last year, we made the tough decision to end Grounded.

Thank you to our partners, friends, kids, other dads, and the community for helping to keep Rooted/Grounded going over the last five years.

Hi everyone! We will be meeting for our March monthly meeting tomorrow from 6-7:45 pm at the Lakeview Library.

Over the next few months, we are also hoping to reengage with our online support group presence! Stay tuned!

Alright guys. I'll be at lakeview library for the monthly meet up. 6 to 8. I look forward to seeing you there and scheduling some things to do together with our kids in Feb and March. Hikes, kid cooking classes.

If you don't come, stay warm and have a great month. I'll post the kids cooking classes so that you can enjoy that wonderful family activity that only north madison could provide.

On this day in 2009, our facilitator Franz started dating his future wife and partner. On this day in 2016, they were married. Taking time to practice couples therapy has been a key part of making the last 13 years work.

On this Friday the 13th, it's a good time to acknowledge that sometimes, we all feel unlucky. In those situations, it can be helpful to reframe that self-doubt. Consider these questions:

1) Can you think of events in your life that seemed incredibly unlucky at the time but later turned out to be positive?
2) Think of something in your life that feels unlucky now. Can you think of any future outcome in which this unlucky thing could be positive?
3) Think of the events in both points 1 and 2 — did/will any of it matter in 5 years?
