Karen Shuler began her Norton Healthcare journey working second shift as a ward clerk at Norton King’s Daughters’ Health, then a 120-bed facility. In those early days, she single-handedly managed nearly every task across the hospital each night, from recording vital signs and mealtimes to transcribing physician orders and handling X-rays and lab requests. She had help just one night a week.
Karen’s career path evolved as she stepped into a unit secretary role, offering support to every nursing station. Eventually, she moved to the day shift and embarked on a new chapter in supply chain management, progressing through positions including receiving clerk, purchasing assistant, buyer, senior buyer, and finally, supply chain analyst.
Karen looks back with fondness on the thrilling experience of the hospital’s relocation to a new facility in 2013. Today, she remains a vital part of Norton Healthcare’s operations in her current role. With 40 years of service behind her, she describes the journey as exhilarating—and she’s excited to discover what lies ahead. 🌟
Thank you, Karen, for your decades of dedication and adaptability.
