Explore the connections between trauma, sensory processing, and sensory integrative difficulties--
Finding Safety and Stability: A Trauma-Informed Sensory Motor Approach
July 17, 2025 – Live webinar with recording access
Course instructor: Sheila M. Frick; OTR/L
Because the impact of trauma and adverse early childhood experiences can be so complex, it is important for therapists to have an understanding of the implications of trauma and how this can overlap with sensory integrative difficulties.
Trauma may be overt, like loss or abuse, or it may be more inconspicuous, such as neonatal intensive care. In either case, trauma has been shown to increase the likelihood of social, emotional, and developmental delays. When an individual cannot adequately process sensory information or traumatic experiences, the body’s natural defense mechanisms become heightened, further impacting sensory processing disorder.
This course will explore the connections between trauma, sensory processing, and sensory integrative difficulties.
