Enjoy a few photos from today’s BMH 5th Annual Drive-Through Thanksgiving Dinner! This year, we proudly served 5,075 meals to our community.

This FREE “Grab & Go” event featured hot, ready-to-eat Thanksgiving meals — turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, and dessert — all prepared with care by our incredible BMH Dietary team and more than 150 dedicated volunteers.

Our growth over the years has been amazing:

2021: 1,700 meals
2022: 2,500 meals
2023: 3,600 meals
2024: 4,867 meals
2025: 5,075 meals served today

Held at Scott High School in Madison, WV, the event ran from 11 AM – 2 PM and was open to all.

More photos will be shared tomorrow with a list of organizations who helped MAKE IT HAPPEN!

In recognition of National Rural Health Day, Boone Memorial Health representatives spent the week in Washington, D.C., meeting with federal leaders to champion the needs of West Virginia’s rural patients and providers.

President & CEO Virgil Underwood and General Counsel & Chief External Affairs Officer Ray Harrell met with Congresswoman Carol Miller; HHS General Counsel Mike Stuart—a proud West Virginian now serving in a key national leadership role; Admiral Brian Christine, MD, Assistant Secretary for Health and head of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; and senior staff from the offices of Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Senator Jim Justice to discuss the ongoing challenges and opportunities facing rural health systems.

They also participated in a rural health roundtable with Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, joining fellow rural health administrators from across the country to discuss policy priorities, innovation, and strategies to strengthen access to care.

These conversations reflect BMH’s commitment to elevating rural voices in national policy discussions and ensuring that Southern West Virginians receive the resources and support they deserve. We are incredibly grateful to have congressional leaders, staff, and federal officials who are accessible, engaged, and willing to address to the needs of rural communities.
