When dreaming of our new space, I thought that was going to be my favorite of the 5 treatment rooms. We had a few kinks to work out, like proper air flow and lighting that wasn't connected to the hallway. I am happy to report that both of those issues have been fixed. Yay!

I don't know if you've heard, but we moved over the summer! I am in love with the new clinic space and would love to show it to you sometime. We have more rooms now and will be bringing in additional therapies. More to come soon!
Always, Kathryn

I over did it at the gym last week. Jumped back into a weight workout that I hadn’t done in 6 months and didn’t back down the the amount of weights enough… And well, the next day it was hard to stand up straight, walk and it was nearly impossible to catch my 4 year old while playing tag.

I’m so grateful that Mary is with Wild Blossom Acupuncture because the day after my “can-you-squeeze-me-in-as-early-as-possible” treatment, I was so much better. I could live my life again. I was not miserable physically and emotionally. I could be a better mom, a better partner and, well, was just felt like myself again.

All this to say, reach out to us if you over do it too. The sooner you get treated, the less treatment you’ll need.

Always,
Kathryn

Vote like your life depends on it. Because it does. Tomorrow (Tuesday 2/21/23) is Wisconsin's spring primary election. SUPREME COURT JUSTICE is on the ballot. This is really important. Please go vote.

My plan is to vote first thing in the morning, after getting my older kid on the school bus before dropping my younger kid off at school. If for some reason I run out of time, my back up plan to vote before working the afternoon shift as a poll worker. What you're voting plan?

Let's cut the BS. We all know that we don’t want BS. And sometimes it’s hard to know what is BS and what's not. In East Asian medicine, that is the role of the small intestine, to separate pure from impure. What is good for you from what is waste. It totally makes sense when they say, you are what you eat. Your cells are literally made from the food and drink that you consume. Now what about the mental, emotional and spiritual side? Well, the exact same is true. You are your thoughts. You are the people you surround yourself with. Sometimes we need to go through and find out what is really true and good for us and get rid of the BS. I will always be in awe of the wisdom of this medicine, our body, especially the small intestine!

If you have a question, ask. This goes for everything in life, but especially something new, like acupuncture!

Today a client and I were talking about the points that I placed on her back. When I place points on the back, I run my fingers down a specific channel to see if I can find “active points”. I was telling her that the top set correlates with her lungs. In East Asian medicine, The lung organ system correlates with grief. She is dealing with a lot of grief and her body was communicating that.

What is more interesting, is that the points on this channel of your back, line up with the bottom of each vertebra and each level corresponds to different organ systems. This is where the nerves exit the spinal cord to enervate those organs. The ancient Chinese were able to connect to 90+% accuracy which level corresponded to the same physical organs as the whole organ system seen in their medical philosophy.

I have never been able to keep a gratitude journal for longer than a day! I used to be in the habit of asking my partner what were 3 things they were grateful for as we’d get ready for bed, but that habit slipped away. And yet I know how powerful a gratitude practice can be. I’m not sure how it started but now, when I am feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stressed; I like to start listing off things that I am grateful for. I have found it to be immensely helpful in the moment to break through a cycle and ground me. It can be hard at first to start listing things off and then as I go, it just starts to flow. Do you incorporate gratitude into your daily routine? If so, how?

Acupuncture is like a good yoga instructor. Remember actually going to a yoga class pre-pandemic? When the teacher would come by and every so slightly press to move you, and all of a sudden that position and alignment that you’ve been struggling to get to is so much easier. That is what acupuncture can do for how your body functions internally. It's a little nudge to get you where you can heal naturally.
