Marlyce Lorraine (Swanson) Heimark-Nelson was born January 9,1933 at Asbury Hospital in Minneapolis to Edwin Swanson and Evelyn (Goude). She grew up in Richfield and St Louis Park and graduated from St Louis Park High School in 1950.
Marlyce married Clark L Heimark on December 22,1951 in St Louis Park. The couple was blessed with seven children.
Marlyce was easy to visit with, and very creative and not afraid to roll up her sleeves for any type of work.
She worked alongside Clark in major home remodels and farming, as well as owning her own business Marlyce’s Curiosity Shop that did upholstery, ceramics, quilting, and sewing.
She made her daughters’ wedding and bridesmaid dresses and some baptismal gowns for her grandchildren.
Marlyce passion for gardening over the years showed in her vegetable stands and large gardens; however, it really shined at Grace Haven where she raised vegetables and flowers and received many 1st and 2nd place ribbons at the Lac Qui Parle county fair even at the age of 91.
Her primary love was for anyone that met her. Family, friends, and strangers knew that they were welcome at any time to her home, her dining table, and her kind deeds.
With Clark’s passing December 10, 2006 Marlyce moved in 2011 to Grace Haven Assisted Living in Madison where she met and married Roger Nelson on June 17, 2017.
Survived by her children, Charles (Joy) Heimark, Deborah (Dave) Werner, Rick Heimark, Chery Stensrud, Carol (Bobb) Quenemoen, Curt (Mary) Heimark, Allie Heimark along with 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren along with many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marlyce was preceded in death by her husbands, Clark and Roger, son-in-law Brad Stensrud, great granddaughter Elizabeth Martin and step grandchildren Troy Quenemoen, Tammy Quenemoen, and step great grandson Dalton Kleeberger.
