Worked my first Race Day Events today. I have so much respect and appreciation for race directors and crew in all the steps necessary to put on an event. I helped with setting up but also timing, the most important factor. Lots of little details involved. It was the Pardeeville Stomp which we found out from the Director of the event was a fundraiser for the UW Carbone Center helping to raise money for research. After learning that and knowing what our administration is doing to research all the more happy I was to be there.

Feeling old as I hang out at the student union of the University of Nebraska. Sheesh I never think of myself as old but I do now!

Optimism and joy is what I get when I look at this hanging in my office. Sometimes you have to dream and hope as you look at things. I see sun, mountains and beauty. In this crazy world right now, I choose to see beauty and wonder so that’s what I’ll do. I hope everyone can do the same.

As I think about the charred landscape of California, I appreciate my view even more. Last year I may have said the view is ugly with no greenery and empty trees with no leaves. Today I say the view is beautiful, its winter dormancy as it gets ready for rebirth in the spring. Another lesson in perspective for me.
