When you hear the word "Hero" who do you think of?
A SUPERHERO like Batman, Spiderman, or of course - Superman?
Maybe a local service member like the Police, a Firefighter, Nurse, or EMS?
Maybe it's your Mom or Dad, or a grandparent.
No matter who that person is for you, the definition of a hero stands firm if you feel it.
Oxford Dictionary defines a hero as: "A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities."
I select D: All of the above, Matt.
Today, I'm talking about a different kind of hero.
The one's who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that you and I enjoy daily.
Some folks get upset about the BBQs, beach trips, and celebrations on Memorial Day since it is, in-fact, a day of remembrance.
But, I'm willing to bet there's not a single hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice that would tell you to stop enjoying what they gave their lives for.
The opportunity for life. For fun. For the ability to grill & celebrate with your friends and family, without fear of attack.
So please, this Memorial Day - remember the fallen.
Lest we forget. Freedom isn't free.
But don't let that freedom they died for go to waste, either.
May those brave heroes never be forgotten, on Memorial Day and every day.
And I'll again share these words from a friend,
"You were worth it."
