Our Process -

We have a professional, process-oriented staff ready to serve our clients and their families. When a prospective client contacts a Senior Helpers office, they set up a complimentary initial assessment at the client’s location to discuss the client’s needs and formulate a care plan. If necessary, a staff member, Social Worker or RN (depending on the State regulations) will conduct a full nursing assessment to gauge the client’s status and clarify the care plan. They determine the most appropriate caregiver for the client using the assessment information and the caregiver matching process. Service starts on the pre-determined date. Follow-up is conducted immediately after service begins and on a periodic basis to ensure excellent care delivery.

It is Movement Monday, and this week we are spotlighting Rock Steady Boxing! 🥊💜

Rock Steady Boxing is a nonprofit organization that offers boxing-inspired fitness programs specifically designed for people with Parkinson's disease. No punches are thrown at opponents, but participants work hard to fight back against their symptoms through non-contact boxing drills, cardio, strength training, and balance exercises.

Research has shown that intense exercise, particularly boxing, may help slow the progression of Parkinson's symptoms and improve quality of life. Rock Steady Boxing has helped thousands of people living with Parkinson's regain strength, confidence, and community.

It is Movement Monday, and this week we are diving into one of the most important questions in Parkinson's care: why does movement matter? 💜🚶

For those living with Parkinson's disease, staying active is about so much more than fitness. Regular movement can help reduce stiffness, improve balance and coordination, support mental and emotional wellbeing, and make a meaningful difference in overall quality of life.

The best part? It does not have to be intense. Even gentle, intentional movement can have a real impact.
Follow along as we break it all down this Movement Monday! 💪

Our thanks to Lauren for her outstanding service as a Senior Helper!
April 2026 Caregiver of the Month! 🎉🥳🎁

What is your favorite memory you have as a Senior Helper, or a funny story you remember with a client?
I have not had a substantial amount of time to really pick a favorite moment from the past year that I’ve been in this position.
However, I have spent more time in the kitchen, making meals and baking than I ever have in my life and I ever will because of the client I take care of on a regular basis. And although I don’t necessarily have a funny story to tell, I’ll never forget the things she has taught or the about the time we have spent together thus far.

How did you come to this care-giving position? What draws you to care-giving?
I have worked in healthcare (hands on patient care) for the past 26 years. I currently work full time as a medical assistant. I was looking for something productive and fulfilling to do with my free time while also being able toto supplement my income.
-Building strong bonds, trust and the companionship have drawn me to caregiving.

Can you tell us more about your family? What do you do for fun/in your free time?
My family consists of my husband, 18 year old daughter and 14 year old son. I have an adult stepdaughter and three granddaughters who live out of state.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. Reading. Working on projects in my home. And taking care of my plants! 🪴

Any advice for our other caregivers?

To be an exceptional caregiver you must be able to care for others without losing yourself in the process.
-Ask questions
-Speak up if something feels off
-Know your limits
