Our thanks to Haddy for her outstanding service as a Senior Helper!
September 2025 Caregiver of the Month! 🎁🥳
What is your favorite memory you have as a Senior Helper, or a funny story you remember with a client?
I have so many fond memories with past and current clients, but if I had to pick one, it would be a comedic moment I shared recently. I remember the day was a usual workday, I helped my client get ready for the day and set her up in her favorite spot so she can watch t.v.
My client enjoys watching shows that remind her of her Irish heritage, anything related to Irish culture, music, and dance, she enjoys watching.
One day my client saw an event related to her Irish Heritage on t.v. The event was showcasing a traditional Irish folk dance.
My client asked if I knew how to perform an Irish dance and I laughed and told her I didn’t and she said “today I will show you how to dance like an Irish”, I laughed out loud with her as she showed me how to dance and I followed along. We shared not only laughter but a memory that I will always cherish.
How did you come to this care-giving position? What draws you to care-giving?
In my previous role, I worked at a long-term care facility for over 12 years. During my time there I learned how to be a caregiver,
which required a lot of interpersonal skill in addition to being compassionate and having an empathic touch.
What originally drew me to become a caregiver is my own personal experience with my own family.
I learned how to care for my family members at a young age, and caregiving came naturally to me.
Can you tell us more about your family? What do you do for fun/in your free time?
I have a small yet mighty family. My loving husband of 37 years and our two children are my everything.
I have Son and Daughter who motivate me daily, and I am so proud to be their mother.
In my free time, I enjoy reading novels. Anything titled suspense and mystery is my “jam”.
My favorite gift is a good Novel, my favorite authors are Danielle Steel, James Patterson and Michael Connelly.
In addition to reading I love to travel with my family as much as I can.
Any advice for our other caregivers?
Put the “Care” in caregiving and you will be rewarded.
Self-care is essential in our work. Please don’t forget to take care of yourself. 😊
