Cold air, dry indoor heat, and lower humidity all pull moisture from the skin this time of year. And while most people reach for a heavier moisturizer, that alone won’t prevent the dryness, dullness, or early signs of aging

The good news? The most common winter skin mistakes are easy to correct. And the payoff is brighter, firmer, more resilient skin all season long. 🙌🏼✨

🧴Forgetting SPF
UVA rays barely drop in strength during winter, and they pass straight through clouds and windows. That means your skin is still exposed (and vulnerable) even on freezing,
gray days spent mostly indoors.

🍊Skipping Vitamin C

Have you ever considered what role nutrition and stress play in your skin health? Don’t feel badly if you haven’t….a lot of people overlook the fact that our skin is a reflection of everything going on inside. Even me….for a better part of my career.

As an Esthetician of nearly two decades, I will admit I didn’t really think about this much before I became a certified health coach from back in 2017.

Prior, I was chasing trends and aggressive treatments to try and find solutions to skin problems, instead of digging deeper. Ultimately, issues would show up again and again because I wasn’t lifting the hood and trying to learn the root causes. Once I did this for myself, I knew I needed to change my approach and offer this to my clients as well.

My experience at IIN changed the trajectory of my career path and completely transformed the way we treat skin conditions at my skincare studio in Madison CT. No quick fixes or trendy treatments here. Instead, we focus on learning about YOU first and then take a whole person approach to your skin concerns.

At JFB we deliver a full skincare prescription to our clients after a thorough consultation. Here, we base our recommendations on stress levels, hormones, diet and lifestyle. And guess what?our clients see lasting improvements. 😁

Do you think beauty is an inside job?

I certainly do! At least from a healing perspective. Are you trying to:

Me too! That’s why I prepared this for you. 😌

7 weeks ago I started a two week reset (removing all inflammatory items from my foods) and I’m happy to say, I have never felt better.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that everyone keeps complimenting my skin either . 🥰

That’s why I decided to keep it going. After many conversations with my friends and clients, I felt that I should put together a simple shopping list to help you take small actionable steps. 🙌🏼

Now, I know we have a holiday approaching and it’s a time of indulgence. I don’t want you to think of this as not enjoying yourself— because I 💯 plan to have mashed potatoes, gravy and all the apple pie my heart desires next week while celebrating the holiday. You should too!

Remember, it’s NOT about taking things away all together (unless you have an allergy), but rather bringing in goodness that outweighs the bad. I honestly live by the 80/20 rule and encourage you to find what works for you.

But, you won’t know what works until you try to remove some of the known culprits. By culprits I mean the foods that cause so much inflammation and damage to our bodies. Food truly heals. From a skincare standpoint, it’s as powerful, if not more than the products you use.
