Just because we are at home does not mean we don't still need yoga and community - in fact, we need it even more!! You can register for classes at momoyoga.com/yogamoms

News from Yogamoms!!
First off, I miss you all so much!
With things starting to open back up in Wisconsin and Dane County, I would love to offer the opportunity to participate in the yoga classes in person again. I want to let you know how that will look and the things that will be implemented to keep you safe and healthy. Exercise, and yoga in particular is an amazing way to promote good immune health and mitigate stress as long as we are careful about how we practice together!!
Our space in the clinic is sanitized on a regular basis and the public areas are cleaned and sanitized often. We will be following Dane County's recommendation on each phase of opening, which will include limiting class sizes and keeping 6 ft of distance as much as possible and wearing masks when it is not possible. We will situate our room so that our mats are 6 ft away from each other. I recommend that if you have your own yoga mat, you bring your own, but I will be sanitizing the mats that we use from the clinic before and after every class.
If you are comfortable and able to wear a mask as you come into the class and exit, it is recommended. Once you are on your own mat, no need to wear your mask unless you would feel safer wearing one as I do want you to be able to take deep breaths while doing the yoga practice.
Because the class sizes will be limited, I will be asking everyone to register ahead of class on this website:

When the 10 participant capacity has been reached, I will be taking a waitlist. If it seems like we are reaching that size often and people are not able to get into classes, I will consider offering another class option at a different time/day yet to be determined.
The week of June 22nd will be the first week of in person classes here in the clinic. I will open up the app to take class reservations now.
Please, please feel free send me an email with any questions or concerns. I am sure there are things that I have not thought of - this will be a work in progress, new territory for all of us!!
I cannot wait to practice yoga with all of you - when you feel safe and ready to join in, I understand that not everyone will be ready to break quarantine, so only when you feel comfortable!! I will be here when you are ready and happy to see you when that happens!!

With many feelings back and forth on this issue, wanting to provide space and time for pregnant women and new moms as well as my desire to keep everyone safe and healthy, I have made the decision to put the Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga classes on hold for the time being. There are so many good options online to help guide you through yoga practices at home - on you tube for free, or else I highly recommend the Yoga with Adrienne series. Or, if you would like to add some strength training to your home practice, the programs by Expecting and Empowered or One Strong Mama are both exceptional workout programs that both incorporate some yoga within their workouts. I hope with all of my heart that everyone gets through this time healthy both in body and mind and I will let you all know as soon as it seems safe to restart the classes. I love you all and will miss you terribly in the meantime!! ❤️

This was the conversation that we were having in Postnatal on Thursday - and I agree that there is not enough Postpartum support - but groups like Postnatal Yoga and Moms groups of all types help to fill that gap - keep showing up Mamas!!

Dr Julie Wray, of Salford University, found it takes a year, not six weeks, to recover from childbirth. Her study also revealed dissatisfaction amongst new mothers with postnatal services.

Postnatal Yoga friends!! I have a big scheduling conflict for tomorrow and will not be able to teach the Postnatal Yoga class! So sad to miss it and all of you lovely mamas and babies!! So, we've been talking in class (especially Postnatal class) about how it can be very challenging to motivate to get some exercise to fit in our schedules. So, I am going to facilitate a Yogamoms informal run/walk on Saturday mornings. I invite you all (yoga daddies as well) to meet up at 9 am on Saturday mornings at Barriques on Atwood Avenue for a walk or run (then maybe coffee or tea afterwards). I will plan on running a moderate pace starting with only 3 or 4 miles - it will be an out and back so those of you who want to run fast and far can go ahead and those of you who want to walk can follow and we all meet back up at Barriques afterwards. Babies and children, strollers and joggers are welcome but you can also use this as an hour to yourself in the week as well. This is really meant to be informal, I don't pretend to be a running coach or anything, just a motivator to get everyone (myself included) out moving and doing it together just seems to help sometimes!! Both pregnant and postpartum welcome - even as far out Postpartum as me!! I will be there at 9 this Saturday (unless someone is in labor) and plan on making it as many Saturdays as I can - I think as soon as we get this going there will always be enough people there that even if I am busy with a labor it will be great fun.
