The food of the day is LEGUMES. When I say legumes I am referring to beans, peas, and lentils-foods high in fiber and protein. Other benefits include:

1. Help normalize cholesterol
2.. Contribute to a healthy digestive system
3. Contains multiple B-vitamins including folic acid, thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin

Legumes are so versatile. Enjoy them in salads, soups, as parts of dip-or as a side dish or main dish for you vegetarians

Food of the day is YOGURT and other fermented foods.

Did you know most of your immune function is centered in the gastrointestinal tract? A healthy digestive system means a healthy immune system. Probiotics found in yogurt and fermented foods (like kefir and sauerkraut) bolster both systems, working against everything from colds to cancer to obesity.

Try Greek yogurt to add some probiotics to your diet. It’s higher in protein and lower in sugar than regular yogurt. Plain Greek yogurt is also a great substitute for sour cream or cream in recipes or as a condiment.

Food of the day is WATERCRESS

Watercress is newer to the self-healing foods scene. It has recently been shown that compounds in this vegetable can detoxify ni****ne. It also is a key source of beta-phenylethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), a very powerful anticancer substance. High levels of PEITC in the blood may be able to zap carcinogens before they start damaging cells.

Add watercress to sandwiches, salads, or soups.

Food of the day is TOMATOES

Pass the spaghetti sauce, salsa, and diced tomatoes! They are a great source of lycopene, a carotenoid that works as an antioxidant. Lycopene can help fight cancers of the colon, bladder, pancreas, and prostate.

"Food" of the day is TEA

All varieties of tea are healing! Green tea gets the most recognition for its self-healing powers, as it’s been found to inhibit breast, digestive, and lung cancers. The catechins in tea are responsible for the protective effect.

Studies have shown that people who drink 1-2 cups of tea a day are less likely to die of a heart attack AND have stronger bones than non-tea drinkers.

Black tea and green teas are made from the same plant, but they’re just produced differently with a different mix of antioxidants. Drink both types of teas to get the greatest health benefits.

Food of the day is SWEET POTATOES.

The sweet potato is ounce-for-ounce one of the most nutritious vegetables around. They are:

1.Packed with beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A
2. A good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber
3. High in vitamins C, E, and the B-vitamin thiamin
4. A slow-digesting carbohydrate that helps regulate blood sugar

Food of the day is SALMON

Salmon tops the list of fish with its self-healing benefits. We’ve heard that salmon is full of omega-3 fats, which combat heart disease, cancer, dementia, depression, and even obesity. Here are some other benefits:

1. Salmon is high in easily digested protein to help the body repair
2. It’s a great source of health-protective vitamin D
3. It’s rich in an antioxidant called selenium, which protects cells and helps the body build new protein

When purchasing salmon, ask for wild caught salmon, as it contains fewer toxins than the farmed variety.

Food of the day is RED BELL PEPPERS

According to a Cornell University study, red bell peppers contain the HIGHEST antioxidant activity of the common vegetables. These antioxidants protect cells from damage, as well as help stop the spread of liver cancer cells.

Add red bell peppers to salads, or stuff them with low-fat meat and brown rice for some delicious, self-healing meals.

Food of the day is ORANGES. Oranges are best known for vitamin C, but they’re also loaded with other self-healing properties!

1. They contain hesperin, a natural compound that protects against cancer, heart disease, infections, asthma, and inflammation
2. They’re high in beta-cryptoxanthin, a pigment that shows promise for preventing heart disease
3. They’re packed with dpectin, known to help lower cholesterol
4. Oranges are full of potassium and folic acid, both of which keep your heart healthy

An orange a day will also keep the doctor away!

Food of the day is ONIONS.

While onions may not be the best for your breath, they have many self-healing powers for your body. They contain beneficial compounds that prevent the formation of dangerous blood clots (the ones that could lead to heart attacks)! They also help prevent arteries from clogging.

In addition, onions contain these cancer-fighting properties:

1.Saponins, which prevent cancer cells from multiplying
2. Allylic sulfides, which take carcinogens from the body, decrease tumor production, and fortify your immune system
3. Quercetin, another anti-cancer phytochemical.

Food of the day is OLIVE OIL. Oils get a bad rep for being full of fat, but olive oil is packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fat, as well as antioxidants. It’s one of the healthiest oils you can use!

It reduces blood pressure
It protects against heart disease
It reduces risk of ovarian cancer

It is high in calories, so you don’t need a lot of it to take advantage of its self-healing powers. Use it as a salad dressing or in pasta dishes
