As naloxone distribution programs expand, communities face ongoing challenges in maintaining consistent supply, funding, partnerships, and equitable access. This session will focus on real-world strategies to build and sustain effective naloxone distribution efforts across healthcare systems, community settings, and public policy environments. Through case examples, data insights, and interactive discussion, participants will explore how to strengthen infrastructure, foster partnerships, and overcome barriers to long-term program success.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:
We will discuss approaches and lesions learned toward building care for patients with opioid use disorder and opioid overdose across the continuum of care from the prehospital setting, through the emergency department, and into the community. We will review ED buprenorphine initiation processes and quality improvement goals in UW-Health emergency departments as well as discuss the prehospital buprenorphine initiation program with Madison Fire Department. We will discuss future work aimed at improving identifying patients at risk and connection to care in the community.
