Our mission is to bring a traditional perspective to modern yoga practices. We embrace a long lineage of often untapped disciplines that many curious yogis may find attractive with the right introduction and teacher: we would like to be that introduction and teacher. Along with this, we intend to create a space that cultivates introspection and allows you to find the practice that best fits you and your lifestyle. Our teachers offer a wide spectrum of style and differing philosophical approaches that will help everyone from the most experienced to the most inexperienced feel comfortable and at home in our studios. This space is an extension of our teachers and our students, and forms what we hope will be your yoga community: your Yoga Sangha. At the foundation of our mission is an idea thousands of years old: that an individual's transformative path necessarily relies on the existence of a community, a sangha. During difficult times, the community is there to offer support; during joyful moments, the community joins in the celebration; during stagnant periods, the community is there to challenge our stasis; and during growth and discovery, the community is there to grow and discover with us. An even greater service is the community's ability to help its members reach a truer sense of Self. In that sense, as each yogi travels their respective path, the community, in this instance our Yoga Sangha, travels with them, nourishing and encouraging one and all.

🤍How long have you been teaching yoga?
➡️I became a Certified Yoga Teacher on July 4, 2015.

🤍What’s your favorite part about the Yoga Sangha?
➡️The teachers here really focus on the needs and goals of each student, and the students are so supportive of each other’s practice.

🤍Do you have a favorite style of yoga?
➡️Vinyasa, but that is such a broad style there’s always something new to discover.

🤍What is one of your hidden talents?
➡️I play the saxophone.

🤍Off the mat, how do you enjoy spending your time?
➡️Walking my dog with my wife in the local parks, playing music, reading.

🪷We are so excited to announce our November Workshop series with Tammy Gibbs “Destress & Digest” beginning this Saturday, 11/16, from 1-2pm, and the following Saturday, 11/23, from 1-3pm!

🍂Late autumn can be packed full of stress, change, and inconsistent eating habits. Join this series to destress and give yourself space to relax and reflect. We will explore poses that feel good, relax the mind and body, and enjoy a long and cozy savasana.

✨The series will end with a longer workshop that explores how digestion impacts the body and mind. Although digestion is a complex process, there are many yoga and somatic poses that can be used to aid the digestive process. In the workshop, we will briefly review the digestive process and then dive into a practice that will stretch, twist, lengthen, contract, and expand our digestive system to get both our creative and digestive juices flowing.

🤍Why do you practice yoga?
➡️Yoga helps me with getting out of my head and into my body. It is part of my toolbox for building my mind-body connection. It helps me focus on the present and be in the moment with my breath and movement, tuning out the noise and the worry of the day. While yoga helps me grow - improving my flexibility and keeping my body strong as I get older - my more consistent practice in the past year has expanded my ability to be accepting of where I am today.

🤍What is your favorite part about the Yoga Sangha?
➡️I appreciate the warm, welcoming, and accommodating instructors! They all have their own style, but each of them consistently put an emphasis on what is right for every unique body, rather than a focus on getting into the most wild poses or the poses “looking right.”

🤍Do you have a favorite class to attend?
➡️It is hard to choose just one! I have really loved classes that put emphasis on mobility as well as ones that bring in aromatherapy! Anything outside during the summer - lakeside or on the rooftop - were favorites, as they blended together my love of nature and somatic embodiment!

🤍What’s one thing folks at the studio may not know about you?
➡️I am a psychotherapist and s*x therapist, with a focus on trauma. I build somatic skills and mindfulness into my therapy practice.

🤍Off the mat, how do you enjoy spending your time?
➡️Spending time with my partner and my dog, cooking and eating good food, and exploring new ways of engaging in movement (hiking, biking, kickboxing).

🌟Welcome to Anna Moyer, who joined our teaching team at the Sangha this month!

🧘🏻‍♀️You can find Anna on the mat Wednesdays from 7:45-8:45am for Align & Flow

🤎Anna’s Story:
Anna was born in the Wallemette Valley of Oregon, raised on the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland, spent 4 years in the Rocky Mountains of Utah, and now finds herself exploring the lakes of Madison, Wisconsin. She is currently a Master’s student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Bacteriology as well as a member of the UW Madison Triathlon Team.

Starting from a young age, Anna has always been passionate about challenging her body and mind. Initially, her exposure to yoga manifested in the form of active recovery days with her competitive sport teams. However, the depths of yoga and meditation came during a traveling exploration in Central and South America by a few fellow travelers in the middle of a beautiful Guatemalan coffee plantation. The connection to the natural world, energetic world, her personal internal world, and the community of the individuals around was transformational. From that day forward, she knew that yoga and meditation were tools that will help her become the person she aspires to be.

Anna got her Hatha and Vinyasa 200hr YTT certification in Sasiama, Colombia in Spring 2024 and began her teaching in both English and Spanish on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Within her personal practice and as a teacher, Anna strives to create a loving and accepting environment. She loves to interact in a space that anyone and everyone can present exactly as they are and/or want to be. Simultaneously, she thrives in challenging the mind, body and soul of herself and the people around her, finding alignment with the universal energy. She hopes to play a part in creating a world with more smiles, more giggles, more laughs, and more love.
