May is Mental Health Awareness Month

“It’s okay to not be okay.”

This phrase isn’t about staying stuck. It’s about giving yourself permission to feel what you’re feeling without shame. Life can be overwhelming, and struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human.

Let’s do a little office tour this Wednesday morning 🌿

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you don’t know what to expect or what it will be like when you walk in.

So we wanted to give you a peek into our spaces at Green Leaf Counseling and Coaching.

Each clinician’s office is a little different, because people are different, too.
Halie’s space is more colorful and cozy, while Rich’s has a more traditional, calming feel. No matter which space you’re in, our goal is the same: to create an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and able to show up exactly as you are.

There’s no “right way” to start therapy, just showing up is enough.

Remember, we offer free 30 minute consultations to make sure that we're the right fit for you! These can be booked online, or with Lauren, our Client Experience Manager.

Therapist Tip Tuesday 🌿

“Sometimes the smallest steps in life end up being the biggest changes you’ll ever make.”

One of the biggest misconceptions about growth is that it has to be dramatic to matter. In reality, small, consistent changes are what actually create lasting change.

Try this:

Instead of asking, “How do I fix everything?”
Ask, “What is one small thing I can do today?”

• Send the email you’ve been avoiding
• Step outside for 5 minutes of fresh air
• Set one boundary, even if it feels uncomfortable
• Drink a glass of water before your next coffee

It may not feel like much in the moment, but small steps build momentum, and momentum creates change.

You don’t have to do everything. Just start somewhere. 🤍

Here’s how it works:

Go to www.greenleafcc.com/contact
Click “Book Appointment Online”
Choose your clinician (Rich Evans or Halie Hemmerle)
Select your service:
• Initial Consultation (New Clients – FREE)
• 60-Minute Individual Session
• Family/Couples Therapy
• New Client Intake
Choose your preferred location (telehealth or in-office)
Pick a date and time that works for you
(New clients) Enter your reason for seeking services
(New clients) Add your billing/insurance information

After that, you’ll be able to review your information and confirm your appointment. You should receive a confirmation email with next steps once it’s booked!

Lauren is available by phone and email Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

If you reach our voicemail, please leave a detailed message including your name and phone number, and your call will be returned as soon as possible when she is back in the office the following business day.

If you need to schedule an appointment outside of Lauren’s office hours, you can visit our website to request an appointment with your preferred clinician or submit an inquiry for services.

It’s for when something feels off, stuck, or harder than it should be.

That might look like:
• Couples who keep having the same argument on repeat
• Mothers and daughters who love each other but can’t seem to connect
• Co-parents trying to find a healthier rhythm
• Families navigating big transitions, stress, or disconnection

Family therapy creates a space where:
• Everyone gets to feel heard

You don’t have to wait until things feel “bad enough” to start therapy.

A lot of children, teens and adults we work with are still showing up every day, going to school, going to work, taking care of responsibilities, but internally they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or carrying things they haven’t had space to process.

Sometimes it looks like anxiety.
Sometimes it’s stress, irritability, or feeling disconnected.
Sometimes it’s the impact of past experiences that still show up in the present.

Therapy isn’t just about talking, it’s about having the space and support to actually work through what you’re carrying and learn new ways to cope, heal, and move forward.

At Green Leaf, we offer evidence-based approaches for children, teens and adults, including trauma-focused work such as TF-CBT and EMDR.
