Lest we forget what, and whom, we celebrate on Christmas - No birth, not even Mary's, is clean, tranquil, painless. Birth is messy, noisy, bloody, difficult, and yes, beautiful. Amidst all the carols, presents and glossed-over images of that Holy night, let's never forget that we're celebrating a teenage mom having her first baby unmedicated and attended only by her husband, who was likely terrified.
