Robert Jones- Monroe Made
For Robert Jones, a proud graduate of Madisonville High School’s Class of 1989, the foundation for a meaningful career and fulfilling life was built right here in Monroe County. Today, Robert serves as a pharmacist and co-owner of Wil-Sav Drugs in Madisonville, where he continues to give back to the same community that helped shape him. His journey reflects professional success and a deep appreciation for the values instilled during his time in the Monroe County School System.
“My Monroe County education instilled in me the knowledge and skills that have been fundamental to my career and personal growth, shaping the foundation of my success,” Robert shares. He credits dedicated teachers and a well-rounded curriculum for laying the groundwork of his educational development.
One educator, in particular, left a lasting impression. Mrs. Mary Tallent, MHS English teacher, played a pivotal role in shaping Robert’s outlook on both work and life. “She taught me the value of hard work and that nothing is ever handed to you,” he recalls, “but she also showed me that it is okay to enjoy what you do.” These lessons have remained with him throughout his career and continue to guide his approach to both business and life.
While Robert takes pride in graduating from pharmacy school and becoming a business owner, these accomplishments are just part of his journey. He is most proud of his family. “My greatest joy comes from my role as a husband and father,” he says. He and his wife, Laura, are raising their two sons in Monroe County, allowing him to pass along the same sense of community and opportunity that shaped his own upbringing.
Robert also reflects on the powerful influence of 4-H in his life. Beginning in the fourth grade, he immersed himself in the program, raising livestock, participating in competitions, and developing communication skills through speeches and demonstrations. These experiences not only helped guide his career path but also built the confidence and discipline he still relies on today. He remains especially grateful to the 4-H leaders who mentored him, including Carolyn Greenwood, Steve Walker, Catherine Jesse Millsaps, and Herb Byrd.
Robert Jones embodies what it means to be “Monroe Made.” We are proud of Robert for caring for others through pharmacy and serving the community he calls home.
