While many of y’all don’t follow a weather page (we see you 👀), we do, and Meteorologist Zack Fradella says it’s time to remain weather aware. So naturally, here we are… being weather aware.

This morning, our deputies were out early leading the way across the Madisonville Bridge, with a little Tony Chachere’s to treat the bridge to reduce freezing conditions. Because around here, we don’t salt roads…we season them.

Before the temperatures drop, a few reminders so everyone powers through the weekend:

• 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐬 — drip them now, don’t call a plumber later.

• 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧 — if you’re cold, they’re colder.

• 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐬 — especially elderly or those who may need help.

• 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 (before the freeze hits)

• 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 — Don’t forget your gumbo supplies.

Bridges freeze first, roads get slick fast, and we’d really prefer not to meet anyone under unfortunate circumstances. Slow it down, give yourself extra time, and make good choices.
