My man cave is full of antlers from different properties I have worked on and the barn is full of antlers. So, my wife let me start a new pile on the carport. I love my wife.

Producing large numbers of gobblers has never been much of a problem for me. I’ve stuck with the same management plans for 40 years. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

If I can get it done in late March instead of September it gives six months for forbs to grow and produce seed.

I turned 65 last week and there’s still some things I haven’t done in my career. I don’t go to those deer forum pages and make derogatory comments about other consultants. I won’t hide behind a fake name or fictitious page. I don’t comment on other people’s pages even if I think they are wrong, but instead just move on. I won’t get in peeing contests on my page and surely won’t do it on others. I don’t share my posts to a dozen or more pages every day to try and pick up followers. I believe the best advertisement is word of mouth from those you have worked with. So, I guess you could say at 65 I’m old fashioned and haven’t adapted to the new ways of doing things. Well, maybe so, but I don’t plan on changing who I am. I’m a wildlife manager who spends most of his time in the woods and not on a keyboard.

Less than 24 hours after yesterday’s burn this area dominated by sweet gum and other hardwood has been reclaimed. Another year without fire and it would have probably been lost.
