Kennth Lee Lowther

Kenneth Lee Lowther, age 63, of Strausburg passed away on May 21, 2026. He was born on July 31, 1962, to the late Bernard and Lela Lowther. Ken was a graduate of Sandy Valley High School class of 1980. He went on to join the U.S. Army where he spent 10 years and became a sergeant. Ken enjoyed restoring old radios for preservation and travelling to antique malls. He also loved spending time with their birds.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Lovlette Lowther; and his father and mother-in-law Allen and Lois Shankle.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his siblings Cindy Lowther, Karen Lowther, Ruth Ann Ladrach, and Keith Lowther.

Paul Laverne Smith

Paul Laverne Smith, age 87, of Magnolia passed away on May 18, 2026, after his battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Newell and Jessie Smith born in Key Ridge, Ohio on October 3, 1938. He retired from Consolidated Freight and as a Bus Driver at Sandy Valley Schools and drove tour Bus from Carnation Tours. He loved his farming, bowling, and going down to the crossroads shopping center to gamble at Paul’s Skill Games.

Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years Bonnie Miller Smith; his daughters Jessie Kerr, Debra (John) Dadisman, Karen (Perry) Schoppelrey, and Paula (Jim) Sams; his grandchildren and his very special many, many great-grandchildren; sister Wanda Maclam; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl Smith, sister Cleta Hartman, his very special aunt Adaline.

Paul’s wishes were to be cremated. There are no services at this time.

Age 73, of East Sparta, passed away Mon., May 11, 2026. He was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Canton, a son of the late Richard and Janice (Koelby) Boltres. Jan was a 1970 graduate of McKinley High School and retired from the Hoover Co. after 32 years’ service as a Die Setter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

Survived by his son, Mitchell Boltres, grandchildren, Ryder, Haley, and Zoey, sister, Jill Sherring, and brother Jack Boltres.

Age 70, of Magnolia, passed away Wed., May 13, 2026. He was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Canton, a son of the late Charles and Frances (Flood) Turner. Richard was a 1974 graduate of Hoover High School, retired from AT&T as a Technician and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by his wife, Susan Turner, his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sandy Turner, and his in-laws, Dale and Lucille Trachsel. Survived by two sons, Ryan Turner and Kevin Turner; three sisters, Kathleen Rose, Annette (Charles) Skolnik, and Beth (John) Krinock; one brother, Douglas (Suzie) Turner; one sister-in-law, Sandy (Mike) Kisak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Fri. at 11am in St. James Catholic Church in Waynesburg with Fr. Fritz Schlueter as Celebrant. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Richard P. Maioriello,

Age 90, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, Apr. 26, 2026. He was born Mar. 17, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Gesumino and Angelina (Del Rossi) Maioriello. Richard retired as a “bird” Colonel from the U.S. Air Force after also having served in the U.S. Navy. As a fighter and photo pilot, and where he became an Aerospace medicine physician. He then retired from his private practice as an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist and currently was working in Veteran Evaluations for military service members.

Preceded in death by his son, Gabriel Maioriello, two sisters, Jacqueline and Rosemarie, and two brothers, Joseph and Gabriel. Survived by his wife, Susan (Hemenway) Maioriello; three daughters, Angela, Suzana, and Jenevra Maioriello; one son, Richard Jr; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Gabriel Maioriello.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday May 20th at 11am. A Celebration of Life will be held at the MAPS Air Museum on Sunday June 7th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the main hangar. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. Robert M. Maurer,

Age 76, of Mineral City, passed away Wed., Apr. 22, 2026. He was born July 18, 1949, in Canton, a son of the late Robert and Patricia (Heck) Maurer. Robert was a 1967 graduate of Tusky Valley High School, served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mineral City. He retired from Conrail Railroad where he was a brakeman; later he worked in the mechanical shop where he became foreman. Survived by his wife, Patricia Maurer; three sons, Michael (Misty) Maurer, Bryan Maurer, and Christopher (Jen) Maurer; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Tallman and Patilyn Strong; and his beloved dog Tiny. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Donavin Maurer. The family would like to thank all who cared for Robert, especially Aultman Hospice and Bolivar Aultman Physicians and staff. A private graveside service will be held in German Cemetery. Junior L. Hart

Junior Lewis Hart of Massillon passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026. Junior was born on December 5, 1941, in Harrisville, West Virginia, to the late Jacob Hart and Zula Moore Stephens. He graduated from Parkersburg High School. As a young man, Junior followed his brother Bill to northeast Ohio where he found work at Canton Aluminum and met Judy Hawk, who was the enduring love of his life. Judy and Junior knew each other for a month before they eloped in May 1961. As a young man, Junior was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #141 where he played basketball and fumbleball. Later, Junior worked at Block Coal and Supply, and then he drove for Roadway for over two million accident-free miles. He was proud to be a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union.

Junior attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Canton, Calvary Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Florida, and St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Massillon.

Junior enjoyed seeing the country in an RV after retiring from Roadway. He and Judy spent many happy months exploring national parks out West and even traveled to Alaska. Junior relished life as a snowbird, wintering in Ruskin, Florida for nearly twenty years where he spent countless hours scouring the beach for seashells.

At home, Junior devoted lots of time to a large vegetable garden and blueberry bushes. He and Judy were an expert canning team, and Junior baked lots of cookies for his sons and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Junior’s wife, Judy; son Nelson; and siblings Bill, Grover, Wilma, Harry, and Virginia preceded him in death. Junior is survived by his loving sons Brad (Vickie) and Lauren (Lisa); grandchildren Patrick, Mitch, and Tricia; two sisters, Carol and Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Rehabilitation and Aultman Hospice for the care they provided to Junior. In lieu of flowers, donations in Junior’s memory may be made to the Stark County Humane Society or St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Massillon.

Age 90, of Magnolia, passed away Wed., Apr. 1, 2026. She was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Mineral City, a daughter of the late Max and Blanche (Jones) Myers. Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Mineral City High School and retired from James IGA in Magnolia. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Applegarth, on Nov. 28, 2001; twin sister Delores Myers, sisters Mary Devine, and Ruth Randulich; and her brothers, Richard, Moxie and Jay Myers. Survived by her daughters, Karen Schweitzer, Sharon Baker, and Susan (Tim) Russell; her sons, Rick (Karen) McCartney and William McCartney; and seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. William Lee “Bill” Cordia Jr., age 57, of Carrollton passed away with his family by his side on April 14, 2026. He was born in Canton on May 31, 1968, a son to William and Joyce Cordia Sr. Bill was a graduate of Sandy Valley High School class of 1986. He was an autobody technician with Waynesburg Carriage for 34 years. Bill enjoyed wood working and fixing anything and everything.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years Deborah (Knepper) Cordia; his mother Joyce Cordia; his father William (Melonie) Cordia Sr.; 2 sons Daniel (Caitlin) Knepper, William “Billy” (Amanda) Cordia III; 3 grandchildren Hunter, Mason, and Logan; sister Tina Cordia; 2 brothers Derek Cordia, and Russell (Crystal) Cordia; and a host of extended family.

Preceded in death by husband, Timothy Reynolds. Survived by two daughters, Callie Reynolds and Amber Gooch; one son, Michael Keinath; one sister, Liz (Michael) Tsueda; and her grandchildren, Kaela, Leigha, Brodi, Ava, Anna, and Nathan.
