Don’t worry about being “out of shape” or a beginner… because that’s only temporary! Just remember, we all have to start from somewhere and it’s never too late to change your life. CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

Each day there will be a WOD (Workout of the Day) on the board so everyone does the same workout. They are designed to be random and intense, because INTESITY = RESULTS! However, they can be scaled or modified to your ability or fitness level. During your first week, we will spend the majority of the class going over the fundamentals for the movements. Afterward, you will do a WOD that will be related to what you just learned. I got to the gym early. It was quiet and nobody was here yet and it gave me a second to take it all in.

In a few minutes, members will walk in. You will come tired or busy or motivated or unmotivated. Maybe you struggled through the day, maybe you feel amazing and are excited to tackle the workout.

Whatever your mental state… in the good and the not so good, you still choose to show up.

And I’m grateful for that.

Grateful for the effort, the trust, the energy.

Grateful that this empty room is about to turn into a place where I get to see you push yourselves, support each other, and get a little better every day. You all inspire me to keep moving forward. The journey towards fitness isn’t easy…. even for coaches! We don’t always feel like going to the gym either.

The quiet moments remind me how lucky we are to have this community.
