I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of this!

On Saturday, many of your Champaign Firefighters were accompanied by their significant others in a “CFD Fire Ops Day” where the significant others participated with their firefighter in live fire drills, extrication, victim rescue, ladder climbing, relay races, and SCBA maze drills. It was a great day for all, and wouldn’t have been possible without Reynolds Towing Service donating the extrication vehicles, Kemper Industrial Equipment for the last minute arrangement of restrooms, Della Perrone Photography for capturing such a special day, and finally Cornbelt Fire Protection District for allowing us to utilizing their training grounds for this amazing event!

Thank you to our volunteers Buxton Michelle-Rock Counseling Group, Kurtz Counseling, LLC, and Anna Strohl with Two Roads Wellness Clinic for the post training session!

Exciting news!!

Starting on June 1st, Emily Stratton, LCSW, will be joining Kurtz Counseling.

Currently, Emily is a school social worker in Champaign County where she works with children and adolescents who are in mental health crisis and exposed to trauma.

She also specializes in working with women who are experiencing anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, relationship issues and infertility.

I've known Emily for several years now and she has such a kind and tender heart. She truly cares about her clients and wants the best for her. I've had a front row seat watching her fiercely advocate for her clients in order that they are able to succeed and reach their goals. Emily is down to earth and easy to talk to, and I know her clients will think the same thing about her.

I'm so lucky to have Emily join Kurtz Counseling in just a few short weeks!

Yesterday was rough. If you have small kiddos, here’s a great resource on how to talk to them about the shooting at Robb Elementary. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.

We cannot fully “news proof” our home when unsettling events happen in the world, but we can help kids navigate what they hear through simple, responsive, reassuring conversations.
