Ever wonder why so many working moms feel like they’re barely keeping their heads above water? It’s because we’re expected to give our all at home and at work—simultaneously. Society tells us, “Put your kids first,” but in the same breath, insists, “Don’t forget to earn that paycheck.”
So every morning, we rise before the sun, pack lunches, find someone we trust to care for our kids, and head off to clock in. But the truth is, this world wasn’t designed with working moms in mind.
Work hours are 8 to 5.
School ends at 2:45.
Doctors and dentists close before we can even leave the office.
Sports practice runs late, bedtime comes early, and somewhere in between we’re supposed to cook, clean, help with homework, and keep the family running.
By the time the day is done, we realize we barely had a moment to just BE with our kids—the very reason we work so hard in the first place.
So the next time you ask a mom at work how she’s doing and she smiles and says, “I’m fine,” remember: she’s probably running on empty, feeling stretched in a hundred directions, and missing the little faces she’s working so hard to provide for.
To all the working moms: We see you. You’re doing more than enough, even when it feels like too much. At Spectrum CMC many of us too are moms and feel the same way but we are thankful our job gives us flexibility so that we can help you. We got you. You've got this
