Congratulations to our brothers and sisters in Kissimmee!

Today marks the start of our new 24/72 shift! This change is designed to give our personnel the time and support they need to recover, stay mentally fit, and remain ready to serve when it matters most!

This moment comes after hundreds of hours of planning, training, and preparation, including retrofitting every fire station, ordering new uniforms and equipment, and making space in bunks and offices to support our new shift. We’re grateful to our staff for the work that made this possible.

We’re also grateful for the community, the city staff, and the families of our first responders. Thank you for working hard, for understanding, and for being there for our entire fire family as we took this step forward. Your support means everything to us.

We wish all of our first responders the very best as we begin this new chapter!

Congratulations to all our brothers and sisters that were promoted and/or recognized for their outstanding achievements!

Higher pay and better benefits are in store for Orlando firefighters, following city commissioners’ approval Monday of a new labor contract.

“This contract puts the Orlando firefighters back on top of all the municipalities in Central Florida … as far as both pay and benefits,” said Lt. Doug Zabin, president of the Orlando Professional Firefighters labor union. “This contract provides us with the largest raises that we have ever received from the city of Orlando. So we're very excited about that.”

The new contract bumps up firefighters’ starting wage from about $59,000, the current starting rate, to just over $64,000 a year. Firefighters with more experience can potentially start at a slightly higher salary of around $67,000, Zabin said.
