At La Amistad Behavioral Health Services, we want our patients to feel comfortable and safe during their stay. Here’s a quick checklist to help you prepare:
🔹 Comfortable clothing and sleepwear
🔹 Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
🔹 Slip-on shoes or sneakers
🔹 Books, journals or other approved leisure activities
🔹 Any prescribed medications in original containers (managed by our nursing staff)

At La Amistad, we are proud to support military adolescents and their families through a specialized residential treatment program. Designed for ages 12-17, our Tricare-covered services focus on healing the whole family, not just the individual.

Our Family First Program addresses the unique challenges faced by military families, including frequent relocations, cultural adjustments and stress related to service. Through family therapy, individualized care and structured programming, we help adolescents build resilience and healthy coping skills.

This week, our Director of Admissions, Mariel Dunn, had the honor of attending an in-person leadership event at the Universal Health Services, Inc. - UHS Regional Office in Nashville, TN.

Hosted by Matt Ours, Divisional Senior Vice President, and Karen Johnson, Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer, UHS Behavioral Health Division, the gathering marked a clinically historic moment, bringing together emerging leaders from across the country to connect, learn, and grow. Mariel shared, “The experience was deeply meaningful, transforming a personal calling into a shared purpose among passionate professionals.”

La Amistad Behavioral Health was proud to co-host a Goat Yoga event alongside the Mental Health Counselors of Central Florida and University Behavioral Center. This playful, restorative gathering brought together providers, advocates and community members for a much-needed dose of laughter, movement and mindfulness.

At La Amistad, we believe healing happens in connection and sometimes, that connection includes a curious goat or two. From stress relief to shared smiles, this event reminded us that mental wellness can be nurtured in creative, inclusive ways.
