Did you know some foods can actively help to lower your cholesterol, not just keep you healthy? Including a variety of these heart-friendly foods every day can make a real difference. The more you add them to your diet, the more they can help lower your cholesterol, especially if you also cut down on saturated fats.
❤️ Foods rich in unsaturated fats
Olive, sunflower, corn, rapeseed, nut and seed oils, avocados, nuts, seeds, vegetable-oil spreads, and oily fish.
🥦 Fruit & vegetables
High in fibre — and some types help block cholesterol absorption from the gut into the bloodstream. Try beans, peas, lentils, sweet potatoes, aubergine, broccoli, apples, strawberries, and prunes.
🌾 Oats & barley
Rich in beta-glucan — eating 3g a day can help lower cholesterol.
🌰 Nuts
Packed with unsaturated fats, fibre, vitamin E, magnesium, and natural plant sterols. Great for heart health and they help keep you fuller for longer.
🌿 Foods with added sterols & stanols
These plant compounds block cholesterol absorption. Found in fortified spreads, yoghurts, milk, and yoghurt drinks.
🌱 Soya foods
A great protein source that’s low in saturated fat — perfect for replacing meat, cream, and full-fat dairy.
Small changes add up — and your heart will thank you! ♥️
