You’ve probably seen the shift in messaging around hormone therapy.

And it’s true, the conversation has changed.
For many women, hormone therapy is safer than previously believed, particularly when started earlier in menopause.
But that does not mean it’s universally safe.

The reality is more nuanced:
• timing matters
• formulation matters
• individual risk matters

This is where generalized headlines fall short.
The goal is not to avoid hormone therapy, and it’s not to use it blindly.

It’s to use it thoughtfully, based on the right patient and the right context.

Testosterone in women is often misunderstood.

The strongest evidence supports its use for improving s*xual desire in postmenopausal women.

But in clinical practice, many women report additional benefits like improved energy, motivation, and overall well-being.

The important distinction is this:
What patients experience and what research consistently proves are not always the same.
Both matter.

The goal is not to dismiss either one, but to use that information thoughtfully and individually.

Low libido is not just about age.

Recurring UTIs after menopause are not a hygiene problem. They're most often an estrogen problem.

For many women, UTI's are actually a hormone problem.
The bladder and vaginal tissues are incredibly estrogen-sensitive. As estrogen declines, the vaginal microbiome changes, the tissue thins, and the body becomes more vulnerable to irritation and infection.

This is exactly why organizations like HHS and the American Urological Association are emphasizing local vaginal estrogen as a key part of treatment for postmenopausal women with recurrent UTIs.
Not constant antibiotics. Treating the underlying physiology.

If you’ve been cycling through antibiotics without lasting relief, it’s worth asking a different question:
Is this really an infection issue, or is it a hormone issue?

If struggling to reach or**sm with stimulation sounds familiar, read on…⤵️⤵️⤵️

One of the main recommendations I give my patients is something that doesn't have any side effects.

Vi*****rs are one of the BEST devices to help women struggling to reach or**sm. 🥳 🥳 🥳

You may be hesitant to consider one, but think of it this way:

If you have difficulty hearing ➡️ you use hearing aids.
If you have difficulty seeing ➡️ you use glasses.
If you have difficulty having an or**sm ➡️ you use a vi****or.

If you have a fabulous or**sm with a vi****or, they we know that your blood flow is working, your nerves are working, but you just need more direct stimulation.

If you are fearful about bringing a vi****or into the bedroom with your partner, realize that most men really want their partner to be satisfied. They WANT their partner to enjoy s*x as much as they do. So adding that vi****or is not a challenge to them, it actually increases their enjoyment as well.

Right when we first fall in love with someone or in the beginning of a relationship, oxytocin levels are generally elevated, and they remain elevated for the first 6 months. So a lot of people equate oxytocin as the love hormone. ❤️ 🥰 🔥 🌈

🦋Oxytocin suppresses ACTH

🦋 ACTH is what causes us to release cortisol.

🦋 High oxytocin = low ACTH and low cortisol = less stress

We can actually see this reproduced on brain scans! 🧠 🧠 🧠

We know that in the brain, the centers that modulate our stress are the hippocampus and the amygdala. And if you give a patient an oxytocin infusion, blood flow to those areas of the brain quiets down. It literally means that oxytocin is quieting the stress centers of the brain. ☮️

Patients then report less stress and anxiety when their brain is flooded with oxytocin.

Many people say that being in love is just a chemical state and in many ways it is. If we flood your brain with enough oxytocin, you're going to feel strong attachment and low stress levels, low anxiety levels to whatever the stimulus is that is making that oxytocin happen.

Get your boost of oxytocin with regular s*x!

A hysterectomy involves removing the uterus and cervix. 😷 🙆🏼‍♀️

The uterus itself does not produce any hormones, so when we remove it, you're likely not going to notice any fall in hormones. 🎉 👍🏼

In fact, most women find that s*x is significantly improved after hysterectomy because the reason they needed the hysterectomy in the first place has been resolved.

❤️ She's no longer having heavy flooding or bleeding.
❤️ She's no longer having pelvic pain.
❤️ She's no longer having fibroids that are bloating her.
❤️ She’s no longer having pain with deep pe*******on.

Removing the ovaries is a whole different ballgame.

Ovaries are the main source of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. So removing one or both of the ovaries is DEFINITELY is going to have a negative hormonal function. 👎🏼 😱

Loss of that estrogen and testosterone can really affect a woman's arousal and desire. It can affect the ability to have good blood flow to the ge***al region and cl****is, which of course is important for or**sm.

Making the decision to have a hysterectomy uterus alone might be fairly straightforward, but making the decision to add removal of the ovaries to that surgery definitely deserves a big discussion

❓ Do the ovaries need to be removed?
❓ If they do need to be removed, how are we going to replace those hormones?

For most women who are in menopause who are having difficulty with their arousal, it's mostly related to their hormones.

You may know that estrogen production stops after menopause, but testosterone is also declining. This leads to not only a decrease in libido, but also:

😤 Lack of energy
😤 Hot flashes and night sweats
😤 Poor focus or “brain fog”
😤 Anxiety, irritability, or anger
😤 Joint and muscle pain
😤 Difficulty with sleep

Proper hormone replacement not only relieves those symptoms, but adds a big kick to your libido as well.

Both testosterone and estrogen improve blood flow to the ge***als, making stimulation feel much better, increasing vaginal lubrication, and decreasing pain with pe*******on.

Estrogen and testosterone also improve the areas in our brain that are associated with arousal, because as you know, our BRAIN is the biggest s*x organ we’ve got!
