Meet Dr. Tameca N. Harris-Jackson (PhD, LCSW-QS, LMFT-QS, CSE) — founder of Hope & Serenity Mental Health Counseling and Wellness Center.

With more than two decades of experience in trauma-informed care, she envisioned a practice where women are seen, heard and healed — mind, body, and spirit.

Under her leadership, H&S has become a space rooted in integrity, compassion and cultural responsiveness, offering personalized mental health and wellness support for women and their families.

We’re honored to walk alongside Dr. Tea as we show up for the women and families of our communities ❤️

Growth can feel unfamiliar.

Even when you are moving in a direction that is right for you, there can still be a sense of loss.

You are not only gaining something new.
You are also letting go of what once felt known.

Both can exist at the same time.

Change doesn’t always feel the way we expect it to.

Even when the decision was right…
even when it was necessary…
there can still be a period where nothing feels fully settled.

That in-between space can feel disorienting.

Like you’re moving forward, but not fully grounded yet.

Adjustment is not instant.
It takes time for your mind, your emotions, and your identity to catch up to what has changed.

If things feel off right now, it doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice.

It may just mean you’re still adjusting.

Acceptance is not just awareness.

It is an active shift in how we see, respond to, and support others.

It means creating space for people to exist as they are —
not who we expect them to be.

That shift is where meaningful support begins.

The way you speak to yourself becomes the environment you live in every day.

It shapes how you respond to stress, how you see yourself, and what you believe you deserve.

Small shifts in that inner dialogue can make a meaningful difference over time.

You might not walk around saying, “I’m stressed.”

But your body knows it. It shows up differently.

Shorter patience.
A mind that won’t fully quiet down.
Feeling tired… even when you’ve rested.
Putting things off because everything feels like too much.

Over time, that kind of stress can become your baseline —
to the point where it starts to feel normal.

But your body is still carrying it.

Stress isn’t always loud or obvious.
Sometimes it’s just the steady weight of holding too much for too long.

And even if you’ve learned how to push through it…
you weren’t meant to carry it alone.

Autism Awareness Month is often centered around understanding what autism is.

But acceptance asks something deeper.

It asks us to move beyond fixing, correcting, or changing…
and instead focus on understanding, supporting, and respecting individual experiences.

That shift matters.

Today we celebrate the heartbeat behind the scenes—our incredible administrative team. 💐

Janice and Shannon, thank you for the care, organization, and intention you bring to everything you do. The way you support our clients, hold our systems together, and create a sense of ease in the midst of so many moving parts does not go unnoticed. You are often the first voice, the first impression, and the steady presence that keeps everything flowing—and that matters deeply.

Your professionalism, patience, and commitment are such a gift to our team and to every person who walks through our doors (or calls in). Because of you, we’re able to show up fully in the work we do.

We appreciate you, we celebrate you, and we are so grateful for you—today and every day. 💛

Thoughts can feel convincing.

Especially when they are repeated often or tied to strong emotion.

But not every thought reflects reality.

Learning to pause, question, and reframe those thoughts can change how you experience them.

When communication starts to feel repetitive or unproductive, many people begin to withdraw.

Not because they don’t care,
but because it becomes exhausting to feel misunderstood.

Over time, conversations can shift from connection to tension…
and eventually to silence.

Healthy communication is not just about expressing yourself.

It’s about being received, understood, and responded to in a way that feels meaningful.

That kind of connection can be learned, practiced, and rebuilt.

Some patterns were formed to help you cope.

They made sense at the time.
They helped you navigate what you needed to survive.

But as your life changes, you are allowed to choose something different.

Outgrowing old patterns is part of growth.
