I’m so proud my private practice in Orlando, Sher Pelvic Health and Healing (SPHH), is 12 years old! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉To celebrate, we have one request: If you received exceptional care, we would love to have a 5 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Google! Thank you. 🤗🤗When I started the practice, most people around me weren’t sure it could survive. I was totally going against the typical standard insurance model and offering highly personal evaluations and treatments for extended time. In fact, my evaluations are still up to 2 hours long! This does not happen in most settings. We flourished! We have served hundreds of patients from all over Central Florida, the US, and world! Patients have come from as far as Japan and India to receive specialized care for complex pelvic health conditions. It’s been a joy to have worked with so many of you! Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this success! Exciting times! ~ Dr. Tracy Sher

I’m so excited to meet up again with my friend and colleague, Dr. Shirin Towfigh, MD. Our last webinar was one of the most popular in Pelvic Global history!!

Upcoming GPHAM expert webinar you won’t want to miss! 👏🔥🎉⁣

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻: 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 ⁣

Friday, September 6, 3 pm ET⁣

We are so thrilled to have Dr. Shirin Towfigh, M.D., back again for another GPHAM webinar. ⁣

The last GPHAM webinar with Dr. Sher, PT, DPT and Dr. Towfigh, MD, was one of our most popular and influential!⁣

Dr. Towfigh and her team have conducted new research related to women and hernias, and she is excited to share these findings and the clinical insights she has gained. ⁣

🔥 How prevalent are hernias in women? What types?⁣

🔥 What symptoms are we looking for and are they different in cis men vs cis women? ⁣

🔥What are the symptoms of inguinal vs femoral hernia?⁣

🔥When is a hernia an emergent issue?⁣

🔥What imaging can be done?⁣

🔥Can clinicians test for femoral and/or inguinal hernias in office? ⁣

Dr. Shirin Towfigh, a world-renowned hernia specialist at the Beverly Hills Hernia Center is dedicated to raising awareness about a troubling reality: women are often overlooked when it comes to diagnosing hernias, including both inguinal and femoral types. ⁣

This oversight is particularly concerning with femoral hernias, which can require urgent attention. Hernias are frequently and mistakenly seen as a predominantly male condition, leading to the underdiagnosis and neglect of femoral hernia symptoms in women. Dr. Towfigh has treated many female patients who endured prolonged pain and consulted multiple doctors, only to have the possibility of hernia repair surgery overlooked.⁣

Dr. Towfigh has been at the forefront of bringing this issue to light, emphasizing how non-specialist physicians often fail to recognize femoral hernia symptoms in women. Dr. Towfigh regularly helps women who endured long periods of suffering and multiple misdiagnoses.⁣

“I am so thankful that I was referred to Sher Pelvic Health and Healing and Dr. Katie Coleman. At my first visit, Dr. Coleman’s kind nature immediately put my mind at ease and minimized any anxiety I had.

Dr. Coleman was extremely professional and explained every procedure and exercise. She explained how interrelated the pelvic floor muscles were to my symptoms and always made things easy to understand. Dr. Coleman gave me a home program to do in between sessions. The combination of her experience, knowledge, integrity and pure kindness make each visit well worthwhile. I would highly recommend Dr. Coleman and Sher Pelvic Health and Healing.

NOTE: When I came out of my first session, my husband said, “I was glowing”.
He knew I had made
the right decision.”

I love knowing I’ve made a difference in someone’s life. It’s majorly rewarding. 😊🥰

The frustrating part is seeing patients spend 20+ years getting the wrong treatments from the most reputable places around the country or world. Cipro antibiotics as the primary treatmentfor 23 years!? This patient who allowed me to share their story went to specialists all over the US.

We need to continue to educate more physicians and other pelvic health providers how to identify issues not taught in medical programs related to the pelvic floor (and more) outside of just prescribing long-term antibiotics, pain meds, or providing surgeries that might not be appropriate.

This particular patient was also offered a major surgery that would have been the wrong surgery.

I’m sometimes scared to speak up because it feels like I’m being arrogant or pushy. However, over 25 years, I have seen what we can still do to improve gynecologic and urology care- particularly around pelvic pain. So, I’m speaking up more. 💥

……

“Good morning, Dr Sher
I hope things are going well for you.

Thanks ever so much for successfully diagnosing and treating my pain in the perineum.

You accomplished something that multiple medical professionals were unable to do and helped me get off of unnecessary Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day, every day, since May of 2001.

You really are a rock star!”

Guest Expert: Dr. Allison Quick, MD⁣

Monday, March 4, 2024 at 12 pm EST⁣

I will never forget seeing a patient after she experienced a long journey with treatments for gynecological cancer. She asked her GYN Oncologist about painful in*******se and the response was, “isn’t it enough I saved your life? You can’t necessarily also expect to have s*x again.” 💔😔⁣

Patients need compassion, care, and guidance!⁣

Dr. Quick, a GPHAM member, will guide us on this important topic!!⁣

Objectives:⁣
1) To understand the effects of radiation on vaginal health ⁣
2) The implications of these changes on s*xual function ⁣
3) Q&A session - vaginal microbiome / radiation and more ⁣

Dr. Quick’s Bio: ⁣
I am currently a practicing radiation oncologist at The Ohio State University Medical Center. I am the Clinical Director of Brachytherapy and specialize in treating women with gynecologic cancers. My clinical research interests have revolved around cancer survivorship, particularly vaginal toxicity from treatment and s*xual function. ⁣

I have conducted clinical trials focused on s*xual function in breast and gynecologic cancer survivors and am currently studying how the vaginal microbiome changes during radiation treatments. ⁣

I also recently started my health coaching business, Allison Quick Coaching, based on my interest in helping women with cancer thrive after treatments.⁣

I have worked with women for over 15 years and know that cancer treatments leave long lasting changes that can affect quality of life and that cancer survivors often struggle to lead healthy lives. My goal is to help women cancer survivors lead even healthier lives than before they were diagnosed. I also offer vaginal health coaching as well for those who want to be proactive after radiation treatments. ⁣
