Are there any other biostimulator options in the US? Yes, Sculptra is the other FDA approved biostimulator in the US. However it is made of poly-L-lactic acid and requires your body’s immune system to react in order for new collagen and elastin to be produced. For the first 5 days after treatment patients are required to massage their face for 5 minutes, 5 times a day. Studies show the quality of the collagen and elastin produced this way is inferior to the collagen and elastin produced by calcium hydroxyapatite.
