Our crew spent the day at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on Friday, and it was such a good time.
We wandered through galleries, admired some amazing artwork, and even spotted a few familiar favorites. Lunch at the museum café was the perfect break, and the weather couldn’t have been better!

Not only is Paul a wonderful member of our kitchen staff, he's also a professional drummer! Today he brought the courtyard to life, transporting his drum set all the way from home to share his talents with us.

Inspired by John Bonham, he started banging on pots and pans as a kid before taking lessons and eventually attending Berklee College of Music. Over the years, he’s played in all kinds of bands and even does studio work when he can.

We are so fortunate when we get to see the amazing hidden talents of our team. Thanks for sharing your music with us, Paul!

Music can transport us to a time, a place or a feeling. Our Memory Care residents let the sounds of Tom Jones move them during Karl's latest performance.

Tom Jones began his career in the 60s and took off with his hit "It's Not Unusual". He's spoken over the years about his friendship with Elvis. Residents say they love Tom since he has a lot of energy and soul, and Karl really delivered with his performance as Tom Clone Jones.

Our residents had an unforgettable outing today as we journeyed to Castle Island, just in time for a truly special event!

We got to witness the majestic USS Constitution sail to Castle Island for a 21-gun salute, commemorating her victory in the War of 1812 over HMS Guerriere. It was during this very battle that the legendary nickname “Old Ironsides” was born.

After the salute, our group enjoyed a delicious lunch at the iconic Sullivan’s, where the hot dogs, fried clams, and ice cream lived up to their well-earned reputation. 🍦🌭

At Atria Carmichael Oaks, Aalyah does more than distribute medication as a Caregiver – she delivers peace of mind and comfort.

We're proud to share that Aalyah was recently honored with the California Assisted Living Association's Excellence in Service Award.

“She’s just really great,” says Kayla, the community's Executive Director. “And she didn’t even think she deserved the award. But that’s what makes her so special. She’s not doing it for recognition. She’s doing it because she cares.”

Every other Tuesday, the book club at Atria Grass Valley gathers to dive into exciting reads, and their recent selection was no exception! Residents read "Blind Descent" by Nevada Barr, a gripping mystery set in the caves of Carlsbad Caverns.

To enrich the experience, resident Marge shared a stunning slideshow of photos from Carlsbad Caverns National Park, bringing the book vividly to life.

They're already looking forward to their next exciting read!

For Richard, architecture was never just a job – it was a lifelong adventure in creativity. For more than five decades, he designed everything from libraries and hospitals to luxury homes and award-winning churches.

“I worked on so many different kinds of projects, with so many wonderful people,” he says. “I was very lucky. The real reward is seeing your buildings finished and people enjoying them.”

Now a resident at Atria Cutter Mill, Richard continues to inspire us with stories from a remarkable career.

Friendship, like flowers, starts as a sprout. And, with time and care, it blossoms into something beautiful!

Shirley, one of our wonderful Resident Ambassadors at Atria Park of Vintage Hills and an avid gardener, inspired fellow resident Phyllis to start her own garden this spring by sharing seeds – and now Phyllis’s garden bed is in full bloom!

It’s a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to try something new — or to make a new friend along the way.

Here’s to growing together, one bloom at a time!

Ready. Set. Go!

Residents at Atria Draper Place hit the track with their own customized boxcars. "The best part was sitting around the table chatting and laughing with one another while we were making a mess painting them," shares Barbara.

From building the little wooden cars to giving them signature paint jobs, everyone was a winner even before the competition began!

Meet Terry, a proud U.S. Army veteran and resident of Atria at Hometown. 🇺🇸

After 20 years of military service – including a combat tour in Vietnam and a career in Army JAG – Terry went on to work in federal investigations, covering high-profile cases for agencies like the SEC and Department of Justice. Through it all, one thing stayed constant: his deep commitment to service and integrity.

“I’ve had a great life,” he says. “Every turn seemed to come with a blessing. And I love it here at Hometown,” he adds. “It’s peaceful. We don’t have any stress, any problems, anything. When we got here, I felt like I was in heaven."

We're honored to have you as a resident, Terry.

Did you catch Gloria on the front page of the Saugus Advocate? What a joy it was to celebrate her 105th birthday with family and friends! Gloria is a beloved member of the Atria Maplewood Place community and we feel so lucky to know her.

Gloria Prezioso turned 105 this week

Saugus native Gloria Prezioso celebrated her 105th birthday at Atria Maplewood Place in Malden on Monday (Aug. 4). A group of family, friends and neighbors gathered for a special party. Malden Mayor Gary Christenson honored her with a citation to “recognize Gloria’s life accomplishments and express our gratitude for all the wisdom and guidance that she has provided over the years.” Gloria, a 1938 Saugus High School graduate, wore a colorful unicorn cap for the occasion.
She was born in Saugus and lived there most of her life before moving to Malden in 2019. She has two children (Robert of Saugus and Gloria of Fort Myers, Fla.), six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her hobbies include walking and sewing. She was a substitute teacher and an accomplished seamstress who used to own an alteration shop called “Gloria’s Alterations.”
She attends daily fitness classes to keep her body moving. Gloria said the most rewarding thing about growing older is getting to keep doing it.
What are her tips on living to 100? “Don’t smoke and be kind.”
What does she do to stay active? “I exercise daily. It’s important to try all the different kinds to keep your body moving. I enjoy walking to keep moving, too.”

Meet Jay, a resident at Atria Grapevine whose love for quilting is matched only by her love for her husband, Jimmy.

Jay and Jimmy moved in nearly three years ago, after his dementia diagnosis, and they’ve found more than just care – they’ve found community. “We know everybody – all the workers, everybody – and it’s so friendly. That’s a real support system for me and Jimmy.”

When she’s not spending time with Jimmy or her neighbors, Jay stays busy stitching quilts, table runners and binding projects for friends (and even her sister). “It’s very calming to me. I enjoy it. There’s a real sense of accomplishment.”

She even transformed her pantry into a cozy sewing nook – a space dedicated to her personal passion.

There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a book, and no one knows that better than Arlene, a resident of Atria Forest Hills.

A longtime passionate reader, Arlene finds joy in listening to literary podcasts and audiobooks, and taking part in book clubs. Well-versed in everything from timeless classics to modern favorites, she's happy to make reading recommendations, which had us wondering, what is the best book you've read so far this year?

When a resident needed urgent medication, Cathyren didn’t hesitate — even on her day off. With persistence and care, she spent more than 10 hours making sure they got the care they needed.

That’s just one reason Cathyren, Resident Services Supervisor at Atria El Camino Gardens, was honored with the Excellence in Service Award from the California Assisted Living Association.

Who doesn’t love a sing-along? We stretched our vocal cords and sang along to our favorite tunes. Music has such a beautiful way of bringing back amazing memories. Cowboy Kalifornia Karl really brought down the house!
