Meet Ruthie, one of our incredible Resident Ambassadors at Atria Oakridge!

Known for being an energetic, friendly and outgoing force of nature, she is always the first on the dance floor and the heart of every event, bringing joy and connection wherever she goes. Ruthie loves welcoming new neighbors, helping others feel at home and building meaningful connections.

Ruthie says it best: “I love being an ambassador because it gives me the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, each with their own unique stories, perspectives and experiences to share. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that I love to talk!”

We’re so grateful for our ambassadors, who make our communities a warmer, more connected place every day.

When Hurricane Michael destroyed Portia’s Florida home, her daughter Danna worried about what would come next. What they found was more than just a safe place to live – it was a community that celebrates Portia’s talents as an artist and creates new friendships while providing the support she needs.

“I really like that there are nurses there and there’s a doctor who comes by once a week,” Danna says. “It puts me at ease to know that there are people there in case she needs anything health-wise.”

Thank you to the Malden Police Department for coming out to chat with our residents for our Coffee with a Cop hour. We had the whole shift in our living room chatting with residents and staff, and it was a great way to relax and learn more about each other!

Coffee with a Cop programs provide a unique opportunity to connect with those in uniform on a personal level over a simple cup of coffee. It allows them to down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve, and form relationships that can lead to stronger, safer communities for everyone.

Books are better when shared with friends! 📚

Our Page Turners Social Series event was a hit, bringing our resident bookworms together for a mystery book swap, getting in touch with their local public libraries and bookstores, and sharing in some delicious snacks.

What has been your favorite read of the year so far?

A big celebration was held at Atria Park of Ann Arbor for Daryl's 101st birthday!

When we asked her what 101 years of life is like, she said, "It's been all over the map – I've had good times and bad times. But I'm very grateful to have lived for this long. Life is still fun!"

She likes going for rides, being with her kids, reading, sleeping, and of course, ice cream. "There is always time for ice cream," she adds.

Join us in wishing Daryl a happy birthday! 🥳

Maplewood wouldn’t be the same without Victor. .

He pours his heart into his job, and he reflects the very best of what we do. It's the people who make Atria feel like home, and we're grateful to Victor for creating that sense of belonging and making everyone feel cherished.

We're so proud of—and grateful for—everything you do, Victor!

Paul's got the beat!

Not only is he a wonderful member of the kitchen staff at Atria Maplewood Place, but he's also a professional drummer!

He recently brought the community's courtyard to life, transporting his drum set all the way from home to share his talents with residents.

"I started banging on pots and pans as a kid before taking lessons and eventually attending Berklee College of Music," he shares. Over the years, Paul has played in all kinds of bands and even does studio work when he can.

We are so fortunate when we get to see the amazing hidden talents of our team. Thanks for sharing your music with us, Paul!

Every day is a chance to try something new, and with the help of Nora, a member of the Atria Bay Spring Village waitstaff, residents channeled their inner ballerina.

Complete with a proper dance class barre, Nora led residents through the five basic ballet positions. What a fun way to practice balance and flexibility!

And to that we say, "Brava!" 🩰

Hummus day = success! 🧄🫒 Our residents had a good morning making hummus from scratch and trying it out. We honed the flavor in to what we liked, used lots of garlic, and got some seriously tasty results!

Residents at Atria Kennebunk had the pleasure of taking a scenic bike ride with the Seacoast Wheelers.

"It was fun," shares Meredith, one of the residents who went for a ride. "I met others who shared my interests, and it renewed my love of biking. It brought out the adventurer in me! I can’t wait to do it again."

The fresh air, sunshine and wind on their faces left everyone smiling.

Mike's servant heart shines at Atria Grapevine. A proud veteran with 27 years of military service, he now leads Bible study three days a week and even helps run the community's monthly town hall meetings.

He calls living here “a blessing – absolutely” and says the best part is the family feel, the smiles and the chance to encourage others. "I can’t say enough about this place."

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we savored the flavors of Guatemala. Known as the birthplace of chocolate, Guatemalan cuisine blends Mayan tradition with Spanish influences to create vibrant and tasty dishes.

On the menu: tostones, guacamole, enchiladas, refried black beans, with cucumber salad, and tres leches cake.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

Today our residents visited Forestdale School to drop off baskets of school supplies for the students and teachers. They worked hard putting everything together, and it was great to see how excited the students were to receive them!

We love opportunities like this to connect with our local schools and give back in a meaningful way. Thanks to Mr. I and Principal Weldai for letting us shower them with supplies!

☀️ We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to visit the New England Botanic Gardens! The sun was shining, the flowers were in full bloom, and our residents had a great time exploring.

We enjoyed a guided, hour-long tour of the property by cart and then stayed for a relaxing lunch. A simple, sunny day well spent. 🌿

In honor of Patriot Day, residents in the memory care neighborhood crafted homemade sugar scrubs for local first responders.

Residents had a great time whipping up a few different scents of scrubs and packaging them up. We visited the Malden Fire Department and the Malden Police Department to drop them off along with cards from our residents.

We’re so thankful for their bravery and selfless dedication to keeping our local community safe.

Not only is Paul a wonderful member of our kitchen staff, he's also a professional drummer! Today he brought the courtyard to life, transporting his drum set all the way from home to share his talents with us.

Inspired by John Bonham, he started banging on pots and pans as a kid before taking lessons and eventually attending Berklee College of Music. Over the years, he’s played in all kinds of bands and even does studio work when he can.

We are so fortunate when we get to see the amazing hidden talents of our team. Thanks for sharing your music with us, Paul!

Music can transport us to a time, a place or a feeling. Our Memory Care residents let the sounds of Tom Jones move them during Karl's latest performance.

Tom Jones began his career in the 60s and took off with his hit "It's Not Unusual". He's spoken over the years about his friendship with Elvis. Residents say they love Tom since he has a lot of energy and soul, and Karl really delivered with his performance as Tom Clone Jones.
