How young should a kid be to start running?
As young as possible.
Movement is one of the most powerful things a child can learn. Before organized sports, before PE class, before anyone tells them what fitness is supposed to look like, a kid who runs learns something fundamental: my body can do hard things, and it feels good on the other side.
That lesson doesn't expire. A child who connects movement with joy carries that into adolescence, into adulthood, into every season of life where they need something to steady them. It becomes a foundation, not a chore. The adults who move through hard things, literally and figuratively, are often the ones who started early.
The 1K Kids Run and 1-Mile Zuma Dash at Malibu Moves aren't about competition. They're about giving a kid the experience of a start line, a finish line, and the roar of a crowd that's there just for them. Some kids will sprint. Some will walk. All of them will remember it.
October 24 at Zuma Beach. Bring them young. Let them run.
