It matters because we’re made for connection, through which we discover our true selves. Love means recognizing the sacred in all beings, including ourselves. While perfect unconditional love may remain aspirational, practicing toward it transforms us. And self-love, far from selfish, is the necessary foundation for authentic relationship.
