Thank you to our friends at Malta Med Emergent Care, & Dr. Moleski for their nutrition & hydration tips. We are 2 weeks out!

As summer is winding down, so too do runners competing in 5 and 10K road races. It’s important to arrive at the starting line maximizing your nutrition and hydration status. Carbohydrate loading is generally unnecessary for a 5-10K running distance but there are still some important nutrition/hydration tips to help you perform at your best. The night before the race make sure to have a low-fat protein with a small amount of fat which will allow your body adequate time to digest. Salmon with brown rice and mixed vegetables would be an excellent option. 1-2 hours prior to the start you will want to consume easily digestible carbohydrates such as low fat yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, granola, or a bagel.

In terms of hydration, for this race distance, water is all that is required. Aim to consume 16-20 ounces of water during the 2-3 hours leading up to the race. During the race itself plan on
consuming about 4 ounces of water every 15 minutes. Be sure to rehydrate and have a well balanced meal of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats post race. Best of luck in your 5 and
10K racing distances.

Due to the rising rates of COVID-19 infection in our community, we have adopted a "no visitors" policy.

Visitation will be allowed for compassionate exemptions and when necessary for patient care. With patient approval, we will obtain contact information to keep visitors updated in a timely manner.

be hosting a COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC.

Saratoga County Public Health Services is providing persons 18 years of age and older with the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine at no cost. This is a one-dose vaccine, no second appointment necessary.

Please wear a short sleeve shirt and be prepared to stay at least 15 minutes after immunization for observation.
Face masks and proof of age are required for vaccination.
