Motherhood is an initiation that never really ends.
It asks us to stretch in ways we didn't know we could. To love in ways that undo us and remake us at the same time. To hold grief and joy, fear and wonder, exhaustion and a gratitude so deep it has no floor. And somewhere in all of that holding, we forget that we too are meant to be held.
This ceremony is the remembering.
On May 16th, at Atmananda Yoga Studio in Edgewater, NJ, we are gathering to honor mothers. Not the role, but the woman inside it. The one navigating something tender right now. The one who is thriving and still needs this. The one who overstand that healing and celebration are not opposites... they are the same river.
The ceremony includes:
-Vitamin rich herbal tea, prepared with care, to welcome you in and begin the softening.
-A community altar, built by every woman in the room. Each of us brings something small and symbolic of our motherhood journey, laying it down among fresh flowers and the offerings of our sisters. What you bring will be held in that collective energy for the duration of our time together, and returned to you at the close... yours again, but changed by having been witnessed.
-Reiki energy healing, a sacred transmission that moves through the body and tends to what lives beneath the surface.
-A fire release ritual, intentional, witnessed, ceremonial, to return to the earth what you have been carrying that was never yours to keep.
-Community healing circle, held in the tradition of women gathering to witness and be witnessed.
There is room here for all of it.
For the grief that still hasn't found its way out, the pride you haven't let yourself fully feel... the tenderness, the laughter that surprises you, the tears that finally have somewhere safe to land. And for the quiet joy of being in a room full of women who overstand without you having to explain a thing.
Bring one object. Something small, something meaningful, something that holds the story of your journey as a mother. A photograph. A stone you've been carrying. Something passed down. Something your child made. Something only you know the weight of. It will rest on our altar alongside fresh flowers, and come home with you when we close... held, witnessed, blessed by the circle.
I'm Lauren. Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Reiki Master, herbalist, and a mama who is always learning what it means to take my own medicine. I built this offering from the inside out. I don't come to this work as an expert. I come as a woman, a healer, and a witness, because I believe you are the sovereign master of your own healing. My role is only to hold the space steady while you do what you already know how to do.
This is your Mother's Day. Let it be sacred. Let it be real. Let it be yours.
Come home to yourself.
