Plants aren’t a free-for-all—they move in cycles, and timing matters.
Here in the Eastern Sierra, harvesting too early or too often doesn’t just affect quality—it impacts whether those plants return at all.
With formal training in herbalism, 20 years living here, and over a decade of ethical foraging, I harvest with intention, restraint, and respect for the plants life cycles.
I take only what’s ready AND always leave enough for regeneration.
That’s the difference between using plants and truly working with them.
