The Town of Man Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the Kermit Volunteer Fire Department and to the family of Chief Hawkey Preece.

It has been our honor to work and train alongside Chief Preece over the years. His dedication, leadership, and service made him an invaluable asset to the community of Kermit, to Mingo County, and to the State of West Virginia. His presence will be profoundly missed.

Thank you for your service, Chief Preece. Rest easy—we will take it from here.

The Town of Man Fire Department recently put in service a 2025 Special Response Trailer. The project was funded by a grant from TC Energy in an effort to better be able to respond to Swift Water Rescues. The Trailer is equipped with a heating and cooling system which will enable us to provide rehab support on other types of calls and events. Special Thank you to TC energy, DAKO Electrical for wiring and installation and to Alpha Tinting for the lettering on the unit.

The Town of Man Fire Department recently took delivery of a 2024 Fouts Four Mini Pumper fully equipped with new AMKUS a d DeWalt Rescue tools. The Town of Man Fire Department is looking to sell a 1999 Ford F550 Pierce Mini Pumper. It has a 500 GPM Pump, 300 Gallon Tank, Push Button Start Generator, Trash Line, 2 Bottle Cascade System with air reel on passenger side of truck. Most compartments have slide trays or tool racks. Has a 9000 lb warn winch. Truck on has 8,406 miles on the 7.3 Diesel and has a 5 speed manual transmission. Truck has some minor issues that will be fixed prior to selling other than that the truck pumps and runs excellent. Has had annual PMs and pump testing done by Matheny Fire and Emergency. Asking Price is $60,000. Truck will only be sold to another Fire Department.

The Logan County Commission has setup a process with Waste Management to assist residents affected by flood damage in disposing of their flood debris. This is for flood debris only. No normal household trash is allowed.

Flood victims must first obtain a flood debris voucher from the Logan County Office of Emergency Management, located at 26 ½ Main Ave., Logan, WV 25601 (LEASA Station 30, behind McDonald’s) before disposing of their debris. The debris must be verified by Logan County OEM at this location before it can be taken to the Waste Management Transfer Station at 231 Mill Creek, Pecks Mill, WV. The flood debris voucher must be presented to Waste Management personnel for debris disposal. A flood debris voucher must be obtained per each load.

Vouchers can be picked up at LEASA Station 30 during the following hours:

• Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• Saturday: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

🚨 PSA: Flooding Safety Alert from Logan County VFD Sta. 200 🚨

Attention Logan County residents: due to recent heavy rainfall, flooding is a serious concern in our area as well as surrounding coverage areas a d counties. Your safety is our top priority, and we want to remind you of important steps to stay safe during this dangerous time:

1. Stay Informed: Monitor local weather reports, flood warnings, and emergency alerts to stay updated on current conditions.

2. Avoid Flooded Areas: Do not drive or walk through flooded roads. Water can be deeper and faster-moving than it appears, posing a risk of injury or death.
"Turn around and do not drown"

3. Move to Higher Ground: If you live in a flood-prone area, move to higher ground immediately. Do not wait until water rises to a even more dangerous level!

4. Prepare an Emergency Kit: Have essentials on hand (flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, non-perishable food, and water) in case of power outages or evacuation orders.

5. Follow Evacuation Orders(if any): If local authorities issue evacuation orders, please comply immediately to protect yourself and your loved ones.

6. Keep Children and Pets Safe: Keep children, pets, and livestock indoors and away from floodwaters at all times.
