The Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore's Executive Director, Susan Tellone, RN, BSN, CSN, MSN, presented a workshop on Pediatric Mental Health Emergencies, with a focus on suicidal ideation, at the 2026 American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Conference for its New Jersey Chapter. She was joined by Sonali Mahajan, MD, FAPA, President of the New Jersey Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Held on May 27, 2026, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ, the conference brought together healthcare professionals from across the state for a full day of workshops, discussions, expert panels, and an exhibitor fair. Attendees had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the latest advances in caring for children from infancy through adolescence.

Samaritan Center is so proud of Susan’s accomplishments and contributions to this important statewide conversation that supports pediatric providers in recognizing and responding to mental health crises with confidence, compassion, and evidence-based strategies.

The Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore is proud to share that Executive Director Susan Tellone served as the Keynote Speaker for the Bergen County Stigma‑Free Symposium on May 13, 2026, where she presented The Power of Proximity, a message about connection, compassion, and showing up for one another in meaningful ways.

Susan also moderated the Stigma‑Free Taskforce Panel, guiding an insightful conversation with:
☑️Reverend Dorathea Jackson, MDiv, CMHC (Westwood),
☑️Shauna Lauricella (Ramsey), and
☑️Niharika Nath (Bergenfield).

Their dialogue highlighted the collective responsibility we share in reducing stigma and supporting mental wellness in every community.

A heartfelt thank‑you to Shelby Klein, Director of the Bergen County Division of Mental Health & Addiction Services; Danielle Trippeda, Assistant Mental Health Administrator; and Steven Tanelli, Chairman of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, for bringing together such a powerhouse group of leaders dedicated to advancing mental health awareness and access.

Together, we continue moving the conversation forward with proximity, partnership, and purpose.
