Summer break is almost here! Pool parties, 4th of July parties, and other gatherings are much more common. These gatherings means there's more people, sensory input, and new environments.

For individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, this can be extremely overwhelming.

One thing that may help is having a dedicated, sensory friendly area in your home that they can go to when they feel overwhelmed.

A quiet bedroom, or a puzzle in the dining room can give them a place to escape the crowd and noise, to re-regulate and prevent overstimulation.
