Constructed in 1975, the Animal Services Center is an open admission facility that houses sick, injured, or lost animals as a place for owners to look for their lost pets. We also take in the County's most dangerous animals and exotics. Once a pet is surrendered to the Center, the pet is examined by our veterinarian, provided with applicable vaccinations, and a behavior evaluation is administered. Homeless pets who are healthy or have treatable ailments, and are not dangerous, are available for adoption. We reserve the right to delete or hide from public view any submissions, posts or messages which contain:
• Vulgar language, whether implied or otherwise stated; including graphic, obscene, explicit, racist or sexist comments
• Personal attacks of any kind
• Abusive, hateful or slanderous comments, whether implied or otherwise stated, regarding any person, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, organization or nation
• Spam
• Comments that suggest, endorse or encourage illegal activity
• Promotion, solicitation or advertisement of particular services, products or political organizations
• Infringement of copyrights or trademarks
• Personally identifiable or sensitive information, including medical information

Meet Kilo! This one-of-a-kind pup is 3 years old and full of personality. With his short little legs and the coolest funky mohawk you’ve ever seen, he’s guaranteed to turn heads everywhere he goes! Kilo is happiest when he’s outside zooming around and playing fetch in the yard. Don’t let those short legs fool you; he can really move when it’s playtime! After a good run, this sweet boy is all about soaking up attention you can give him. Oh, and did we mention he’s super photogenic? Meet Spoon! This gorgeous young pup is about 1–3 years old and hasn’t seen much of the world yet, but he’s ready to learn with the right family by his side. Despite his big size, he’s really just a baby; he'll hide behind his comfort person when strangers feel overwhelming and duck his head when the trash truck rumbles by. Once he warms up, Spoon is all love. He's friendly, gentle, and laid-back. Meet Munchlax, aka Munchie! This handsome boy is about 2 years old and he came into our care as a stray. With his stunning blue coat, beautiful smile, and cuddly personality, Munchie would make any Pokémon trainer proud. True to his name, Munchlax is a snack connoisseur who "eats anything edible." He’s an easygoing gentleman on leash, taking his time to sniff every tree and shrub like he's on a mission. Munchie also LOVES his toys and takes his collection seriously; he’s got to catch 'em all! The animals below are STRAYS turned into the PWC Animal Services Center between 09/02/2025 - 09/04/2025. We post photos of stray animals brought to the Center a couple of times each week to help owners find their missing pets. This posting is a courtesy only and we will not answer questions via Facebook about animals pictured here. If you believe your pet is at the Center, please inquire directly by calling (703) 792-6465, emailing animalservices@pwcgov.org or visiting the Center.
Reminder, proof of ownership is required to redeem your pet and you should provide proof of current rabies vaccination at the time of redemption. These pictures should not be considered all-inclusive and if you have lost your pet, you should immediately contact the Center.
Lost pets may be redeemed daily as early as 8AM, including the days the Center is closed. Our hours of operation are:
Monday: CLOSED FOR BUSINESS
Tuesday-Friday: 11AM - 5PM
Saturday: 10AM - 4PM
Sunday: Noon - 4PM

Toby is a looker!! He has smokey eyes and a swagger that turns heads. Toby is house trained, and crate trained (we recommend utilizing a crate for Toby or for any dog who is “new to you”). Toby would LOVE to live with a playful female dog. In terms of dogs in general, we feel he will be best with females or submissive male dogs. Now the most important part, Toby comes with THREE (3) complimentary training sessions with his trainer. This is a tremendous value and so important in Toby’s and your journey together. Meet Onyx! This 3-year-old sweetheart is all about his people. He loves being close, soaking up cuddles, and asking for belly rubs whenever he can. When playtime starts, get ready for the zoomies! After a few laps around the yard, he’ll happily roll around in the grass and show off his silly side before settling in for snuggles. Onyx is well-mannered on leash and has lived peacefully with cats in his previous home, but he’s looking to be your one-and-only pup.
