Koff Chiropractic Clinic

Koff Chiropractic Clinic Treating patients since 1976. Specializing in Safe, Gentle Non-force Corrective Spinal care. Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Doctor Louis I. Koff.

I am a Doctor of Chiropractic. Chiropractic is the world's largest natural healing art. I have been making people healthy since 1976 when I began my practice in Manassas, Virginia. I went to Chiropractic School at Palmer which is the fountainhead of Chiropractic. Chiropractic began with D.D. Palmer in 1895. That's why I chose Palmer, it's the best! While attending Palmer, I was awarded the Kingo Koil Scholarship and many other outstanding awards in diagnosis, x-ray, and clinic. I was a member of the Pi Tau Delta Honor Society, an international honor society, and graduated class Salutatorian. Palmer College of Chiropractic offered me a job to teach there but I wanted to make people well. So, in 1976, my wife, JoAnn and I moved to Manassas. Since then, I have been an active member in the American Chiropractic Association, the Virginia Chiropractic Association. Due to the fact that I have a keen interest in sports medicine, I am a member in the American Chiropractic Association's Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness. I just completed a three year course in Chiropractic Orthopedics which further enables me to and diagnose orthopedic problems. I am a Panel Physician for Workman's Compensation in Prince William Country. For over 31 years, I have treated newborns to senior citizens. I have worked with professional and amateur athletes, as well as Olympic hopefuls. I have treated thousands of people in Northern Virginia and surrounding states. I incorporate various chiropractic techniques along with exercise and nutrition to attain your optimal health. I always utilize safe, gentle corrective care of your spinal problems.

Meet Your New Doctor - Dr Tara Koff
Hi, I am Dr. Tara B. Thank you, in advance, for allowing me this opportunity to introduce myself. In high school, I achieved: Scholastic All-American for three years, NISCA All-American, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, US Army Scholar Athlete, American Academy of Achievement, four National Swimming Times, and placed second in the US Swimming for 17-18 girls 400 IM Relay. I was recruited by numerous colleges and selected Columbia University. After my sophomore year at Columbia, I transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill. In 2004, I graduated a semester early, with honors, a BA in Psychology, and a Pre-Med degree. I worked at the Center for Developmental Science, tutored calculus, and became a huge UNC basketball fan! In 2005, I began Palmer College of Chiropractic. I achieved Dean’s list 11 of the 13 quarters and was awarded President’s List. I was a Teaching Assistant in a Physical Assessment class, worked in the Anatomy Lab and was a calculus tutor. At Palmer Clinic, forty-four percent of my patients were top athletes who competed regularly in marathons and triathlons. Half of my patients were referral-based so I was able to successfully complete my clinic adjusting requirements two and a half quarters early. I was the only person in my graduating class to be a Clinical Teaching Assistant in 11th quarter and the only student to be a selected as a Supervising Clinical Teaching Assistant 12th quarter. My final quarter, I interned at Koff Chiropractic Clinic. At graduation, I was one of four students in my class honored for Clinical Excellence, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. At Palmer, I was a member of Galloway Running Group and completed a: 5K, 15K and Disney’s Half-Marathon. I, also, competed in two relay triathlons, swam on the YMCA’s Masters Team and competed in the Chiropractic Olympics in swimming. I passed the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and am eligible for certification in Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner, which is a series of seminars on musculoskeletal injuries in the extremities. In March of 2009, I took Active Release Technique, which is the premier treatment for soft tissue and sports injuries, and am now certified as an Active Release Technique provider. I am also a member of Virginia Chiropractic Association. In my free time, I still compete in swimming races, running races, and triathlons. As well, I assist in volunteer swim coaching for Team Z Triathlon Team every week. I also take my passion for treating athletes of all levels, from amateur to professional, and have volunteered at numerous local triathlon races such as the Tri It Now Triathlons and at Set Up Events-VA Triathlon Series Triathlons and have even traveled to Florida to treat the competitors of the Ironman. Like my Father, I utilize low-force Chiropractic techniques to correct spinal misalignments as well as therapy, soft-tissue techniques and therapeutic exercises. In November of 2009, Dr. Tara B. Koff traveled to Panama City, Florida to treat the competitors of the Florida Ironman for the three training days prior to the Ironman event and on the Ironman competition day, November 7th. An Ironman is one of the most challenging events in the world of sports and also one of the most inspiring. The grueling Florida Ironman is an Ultra Triathlon consisting of: a 2.4 mile two-loop swimming race in the ocean, a 112 mile bike course race and a 26.2 mile full marathon running race all in succession. Athletes have 17 hours to complete the event (from the 7 a.m. start until midnight). The Florida Ironman is a qualifying race for men and women for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. As a treating physician for ART, Active Release Technique, Dr. Koff treated over 500 athletes of all levels; from first-time Ironman competitors to professional triathletes to world class Ironman competitors vying for a slot at the Ironman World Championships later that year. It was an amazing experience to be part of the treating ART Ironman staff of Doctors for the Florida Ironman as well as sharing in the experience of the 2,424 competitors. Good Health and Happiness!

9/11 is the day, Dr. Tara Koff, walked 60 blocks, from Columbia University, where she was a sophomore, with two Columbia girlfriends, to the World Trade Center at Ground Zero, after the second plane hit, to assist the firefighters, and first responders, in any manner, when everyone was running in absolute horror away from the WTC. They inquired how to help. They offered her a pail, a shovel and a helmet. Dr. Tara said she couldn’t do that. Instead, she returned to volunteer with the American Red Cross for the next 5 days. She volunteered at the Jacob Javits Center to give water, food, hugs, and solace to the fireman, policeman, and rescue squad workers before and after their shifts at Ground Zero who were trying to find anyone alive.
We commend your heroism Dr. Tara, and theirs; your valiant, deep sense of humanity is inspiring.
May God bless all who lost their lives that day, all first responders and all of their families.
God bless America.
When the 9/11 Museum was built, historians asked for first responders to submit online what assistance they may have given in those first days. Dr. Tara’s Mom entered Tara’s information. The 9/11 historian called and asked her to write down her memories. He invited her to NYC to bring any memorabilia she had to their meeting. She had her dusty blue adidas’s sneakers, 2-3 notes from churches thanking her, and the end of a candle she had held lit from Columbia University’s vigil on 9/11.
The 9/11 historian asked her to read aloud her writing to be recorded as an oral history to be broadcast in the 9/11 Museum, and for history.
Annually, Dr. Tara is invited to the 9/11 Museum’s private event for first responders only. She went back once on the 15th anniversary with her Mom as her guest. It was hard day. God bless you Dr. Tara. You’re our hero.
