The UVA Health Auxiliary has awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 14 outstanding high school and college student volunteers pursuing careers in healthcare.

Prince William Living Magazine has named one of our volunteers, Kaitlyn Thai, as one of their Extraordinary Teen Award recipients!

This award recognizes local youth who are not only excelling academically but also creating a meaningful impact in their community.

“Kaitlyn eagerly cross-trained in each of the departments and provided great insight with her observations, helping her peers who were struggling — whether shy or just uncomfortable — to gain a more meaningful experience engaging with patients,” says Jude Kelly, Volunteer Programs Coordinator at UVA Health Prince William. “She was instrumental in creating a smooth Summer Teen Program operation.”

According to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), a new patient in the U.S. is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma every 3 minutes. The treatment and rehabilitation process can often be long and arduous.

We want to thank Safford Brown Subaru Manassas and LLS for making a meaningful difference with their donation of 80 blankets and 10 patient care kits along with handwritten messages of hope to our patients. 💙
